Thread: Google going for a page rank update?

Somewhere, I read that in about 3 weeks, there will be a google page rank update.
If true, now is the time to build up sites and have them ready to go.

/me wonders what google has in store this round

Hopefully take all those directories that were built on page rank sites and dumped them down to pr1!

Google just had a PR update not too long ago, I wouldn't think another would follow this soon unless they are opting to update more often.

how often do they rank?

I actually made some changes to my site recently and was wondering if something might happen as a result of this!

I could have sworn they update quarterly so expect updates anytime next month or so... I guess?

Thanks for the head up Dawg! I got to make sure to keep on top of some newer sites in hopes of a PR bump!

I just saw an estimate of July 21st as the next PR update....*shrugs* who cares

Higher PR will help you rank better, but only if you have relevant anchor text on the backlinks headed to your website. For example, if you have a PR5 link with the anchor text "fish-corn bushes", you'll probably draw more people searching to buy some fish-corn bushes. However, if you have a PR5 link with the anchor text "John's Greenhouse", you're probably only going to rank well for that term, but not "fish-corn bushes".

In case you didn't know, fish-corn bushes is Strong Bad approved!

did they get enough Rat data of the sites selling Links for PR?
So they are going to reset the Pagerank for those sites?

Did not mean to tick anyone off, but I stand by my original statement . I see PR more of an ego thing than a SERP thing, IMHO. I do agree with you on advertising revenue and webmaster recognition.
