I have seen a lot of changes but these concern mainly from sites going to PR0 and PR0 sites getting some PR. However, most of my sites remained the same. Therefore, I have a feeling that there is much more to come.

Is there any site to check it?
alexa?

Why bother with updates?
If it happens, it happens.
If a site goes up in page rank, it goes up.
Otherwise, the world continues on not caring about updates and page rank.

^ You sound like demsco now LOL I care because I like raising my advertising cost$

Well why to worry about PR..??..umm...bring up a new blog and ask people for $25 for a blog post!!! :P
Well the second and most important reason for having a decent PR is that your pages would go to the top of Google in a flash! More the PR more Google crawls your web site deeper!

Well you both are correct with your points...well high traffic sites would give you attention to the masses...and a high PR site would add up in your rankings...well if you see the end result is increased traffic to your site which is what required after all!![]()

Pagerank is useless!!! Concentrate on a) creating good content and b) getting your uniques and traffic up, then the money will follow.

Exactly what I have been saying from the day page rank first came out from google!
I remember way back when, I and so many others would put up a simple site with simple pages.
And sell both text and banner advertising for BIG BUCKS!
And get tons of business!
Alas, those days are gone.

Buy links for relevancy. It will be better for traffic anyway.

I'm sorta new to this whole webmastering, making money from websites thing, yeehaw, so I'm sort of ambivalent to PR and Alexa. Two of my blogs and my two websites turned PR0 recently. But the thing I watch more than anything is my stats, to see how much of my traffic is coming from Google and other search engines and what the keywords are. But I do think PR comes in handy in getting people to buy links on your site, and such.

What is rough about page rank:
You have a pr4 site, you want to sell links.
And poof, someone is going to have a pr4 site also and will sell links for next to nothing.
Nobody asks about traffic, just why is your price higher than the other guy?
I see this all the time in other forums.
Someone tries to sell links on a pr4 (or whatever) for one decent monthly price, and there is someone selling links for cheap.
Guess where the buyers go?

Agree 100% with ya dawg ... and guess where that PR4 site goes the next update ? dowwwnnnnn

NOw that is another sore point.
Those who sell based on page rank and then it goes down next update.
I have seen quite a few sellers on another certain forum that sell based on pr of a site they either just acquired or changed to something else.
People buy, then poof! The pr4, 5 or 6 links they bought are now devalued as the site went down to pr3 or even pr0!
Same with those who build directories onto such a domain.
See buyers are getting smarter and checking the history of the domain and seeing what it was and what it is now.
Do you have something against a free market system? You certainly miss the point about PR and what it represents. Those "good ole days" you describe don't exist anymore because advertisers have wised up and have a tool for an indication of good sites...it's called PageRank! If you had a PR7 you certainly wouldn't have a hard time getting advertisers to pay big money.
I am always perplexed at people that thumb their nose at Pagerank. Are you saying when there is an update you don't check your sites?

May I ask just how big this corner is?round the corner

That's my question. It seems to be the longest predicted PR update ever LOL Rumors on this update flew early and nothing has transpired

I must admit, in response to labrocca's question, I do check my PR when an update is near but I don't take it much further than that... I guess it's just fun to me..

I've still not seen any noticeable change of any kind relevant to PR... Seems the corner must be really long...

Corner? Just like the earth used to be square but it turned out to be round. I think we are seeing the same effect, no corners!!!

Yep, you get page rank or not.
Just up to google.
Webmasters are an odd lot when it comes to advertising.
They want page rank, but do not want to pay much.

Some good sound advice actually from Matt... I would agree, on the rejection point.. We accept, we reject, we even email people to ask for clarification about some URLs that are submitted... My biggest goal has been to keep the directory FRESH, above all else.. Free of dead links and invalid sites...

Well Matt's making some valid points and I tend to generally agree with what he is saying. If you want to know a little more about these issues, check out this thread
