    Default PayPal Dodgy Dealings

I happened to click on the recent blog link of pit favorite buffalo:

Banned From PayPal! (Permanently “Limited”) : Learn Success With Randy Brown

Basically it's the story of this guy who had his PayPal account terminated because they deemed he was "in violation PayPal’s Acceptable Use Policy regarding your sales of Subscription Services."

The real killer is that they are going to hold his $5000 balance for 6-months after the last transaction. Can a company really deprive someone of what's lawfully theirs in such an underhand manner?

They're no better that thieves as far as I'm concerned.

On a positive note, I guess we've finally located where sundaybrew's been hiding!

Yes they can keep it and in reality they have to. What if tons of people decide to do chargebacks, they need the funds to pay the customers back

Yeah, but you've only got 45 days in which to make an appeal/chargeback if I remember correctly. So what of the other 135 days?

That is the pay pal terms, if paid via a credit card the credit card company themselves might have a longer term.

Okay, on a slightly different matter:
I received an email from PayPal yesterday along the lines of:

    Dear CountryBoy,

    This notice is a reminder.

We are sending you this notice because you have received more than 650.00 GBP in total payments to your PayPal account.

PayPal is required by law to comply with European Union Anti-Money Laundering regulations to collect information from customers when they receive more than the set limit in total payments. Please log into your account, go to the Account Overview page, and follow the instructions there about how to provide the required information. These steps need to be completed as soon as possible to comply with this regulation.

If you have any trouble completing these steps, please contact Customer Service at [UK phone number].

We appreciate your business and apologise for any inconvenience.
I signed into my account, looked at the Resolution Center and they want me to verify my credit card. The weird thing is I have a verified Premier Account - I have already verified my home address and bank details. Why could they possibly need me to verify a credit card too? To add further insult to injury it means I can not spend my money in the account - which could have been very embarassing (and made me look a right twat) if I had some outstanding debt with anyone online.

I don't see how it's a bad thing that they want and need to comply with laws, what's required to verify a credit card anyway?

Sometime in the past several years, I got my paypal account okayed to accept up to like $25,000 per day.
For a while there, they were freezing accounts because of so much money flowing into so many accounts.

I think that is all it is that paypal wants from you, is just some proof of everything and to make sure the payments flowing in are legal.

What irks me about PayPal is it isn't a bank yet tries to act like a bank in some facets.

What really really irks me is their lack of customer service. I lost my debit card from PP in January, went online and canceled the card. I've applied for one to be reissued several times since then, nothing! Message to "customer service" gets a canned response with no answers. I cannot get why they would issue me a debit card once and then not reissue me a new one because I lost it...WTF? Even if they charged me a free to stamp out a new card, okay but give me an answer..Something anything don't leave me hanging in the wind.

They charge my credit card £1. A 4-digit reference number appears next to that transaction on my card statement. I plug that number into my PayPal account and that confirms the card is mine. They refund my £1 to my PayPal account.

Does having a credit card prove I'm not money-laundering? Of course not. I don't see what business it is of theirs, considering none of my PayPal transactions involve the aforementioned credit card anyway. I think they're just snooping.

Going by what you posted above, it's a law no matter what and they're just abiding by it. I don't think they'd have time to snoop.

I have had more then 600 come into my account in one day and never had any problems with paypal. I do not fine their rules to be all that much of a bother.
