    Default Looking after your Camera

As you might already know, I have bought a new camera, and it arrived today

I was wondering does anyone have any tips on how to look after your camera - what you shouldn't do, what conditions you should leave your camera in, temperature etc.

I just got a new one too. The manual was very specific on the safe operating temperatures and about pointing it at bright lights and the sun.

I think a lens cleaning cloth would be best for those times you put a fingerprint in it.

I brought the OEM carrying case for mine.

I think Tim is our go to guy for more details though.

Noppid good advice about reading the instruction manual - I'm useless at reading them! Lol!

I used to do R&D in a data processing Dept. We never read the manuals. But these days, it seems you have to. Mine is 131 pages and I'm still in it all the time.

It's no fun, but the payoff with these cameras will be huge it seems with all the options.

Very true Noppid! I'll have to take the manual to bed and read it!

    Care of a digital camera:
Put it in a padded carrying case, with spare batteries and memory chips.
Then put that case anywhere it happens to be laying, be it in the van for a few weeks, in a closet, or on a table top somewhere.

At least our have survived all the abuse we put it through in 3 years.
Probably doing so in spite so that I do not have a good excuse to get a new one!

    Good advice Iowa! Thanks.

I've ordered a case for it, so that should protect it

    I can be clumsy sometimes!!

And do not forget the most important part:
Let the wife take it with her, let her use it.
Let the kids use it, the grandkids.
I think so far the only one that has yet to touch the camera is our dog!

I bet the dog would look cute with the camara around it's neck. Try it and let us know.

Y, check the manual for specifics...mine says 0-40C, 85% humidity or lower... so basically you wouldn't want to let it bake in the sun all day for sure. Mine has 2 or 3 pages dedicated to care & do's and don't...some of it is more common sense than anything....

Hmmm, do not drop camera. Well I didn't need to be told that, though I have dropped both this camera and the one previous!! Thankfully w/out incident.

I'm not one for manuals either but when it comes to cameras I tell people in this case to actually USE them.
