Thread: Errr Quality Pics ?!

Just a few question for anybody who find time to answer :

1. What must be taken into consideration when you take photos/pics ?
Subject ? Lighting? and....?

2. Would the digital camera be okay as compared with the "real camera" ? Quality output and all that stuff...?
3. What are the things to be considered when buying a good but not too expensive digicam ?
4. Any particular brand preferences, if any ? if so, why that brand ?
5. What is the relationship of the "pixel" specifications in some digicam in relation to picture quality?
6. What are other things to consider when buying a digicam ?

Im gearing up to take pictures for shareapic.net and would gladly appreciate any information you could provide about a good and inexpensive digicam.

The lense is primo important. Garbage in means garbage out.

I had a Sony digital camera and loved it! It took great pictures, very clear and crisp images.
Made an amateur like me look almost like a pro sometimes.

I have a Panasonic HD video camera that I use to take photos also and it takes great pictures.

If you think you will use video just as much as photos then it is a great way to kill two birds with one stone.

It works great for me

I currently use an Olympus digital camera, the SP-510UZ. It does the job so far, pretty decent quality pics. The 10x optical zoom has come in handy on more than one occasion. Pretty good Mpx too (7.1). The auto setting for taking pictures is pretty damn good. Here is a review I wrote on it for someone.
I got mine for about £170 ($340), so it wasn't that expensive for what it is.
It's not an DSLR or anything, but its good just for everyday photos.

I'd stick to brands you know as much as possible (i.e. Olympus, Nikon, Canon, etc.).

ps You don't need amazing quality pics for shareapic.net any will do.

subject, lighting, composition (Rule of thirds...more like a guideline), foreground/background clutter

I throw the rule of thirds out the window. I'm a fifths man. I put subjects in spots two and four.
