Thread: Google Maps Streetview

Thought it would be a good idea to have a thread where we can explore interesting areas via Google maps Streetview. We can show each other places we visited, and point out interesting bits. :fine:

You can step along the road, do a 360 degree turn, with the left and right cursor keys. You can also look up and down, with the onscreen controls provided or you can use the up and down cursor keys coupled with another key (the function key on my mac, maybe Ctrl for PCs?).

First I'd like to link to the Glasgow Concert Hall. If you spin around you can see Buchanan bus station which has a clock with legs in front of it. Across the road from the concert hall you cans see Cineworld, the tallest cinema in the world. It happened to have Narnia viewing that day.

You could also link to any amazing events that were coincidentally caught by the Google van cam.

It doesn't go to my house in Dundee... (it goes to the corner though, just not into our wee culdasack bit...)

Aye, that place is good to sit. Just outside the art college ain't it? My mates live up the road from there (up the perth road).

True. Strange the G cam missed out a section of the Perth Rd just in front of the art school so can't show that here. It's too bad there isn't a GoogleInsideBuildingsview just yet (give it time :goofy as the view of the Tay from the top of the college was just great.

A guy I used to work with got streetviewed in his car leaving his workplace!!

I think SV is really slick. One time I wanted to go downtown and find a high vantage point to shoot from, so I was looking for a parking garage....hard to tells sometimes where those are from the regular sat view.

with SV I was able to look around and find exactly what I needed!

it depends. like VB said he was expecting "something else" and so he hated it pretty much; didn't like the character...

I knew what to expect going in, a goofy ass story about a goofy ass character played by a goofy ass comedian.

It was good IMO. One scene in particular had my friend and I literally bawling laughing for like 5mins. My jaw hurt when I got home from laughing so much. It was probably an instance where if we were watching it alone we might not have laughed so much! But we fed off the other and man...tears. Can'ty imagine if we had been drinking...holy...might have PSML

I would even suggest to look at google map before going somewhere to get familiar.

They just added an option for 3D if you're wearing the glasses! That's awesome. Now I have to look at all my favorite places again lol

This original Google's feature is truly unique - I haven't seen anything similar before!

google map is awesome ..

Its interesting, using Google earth is very helpful to find any location. Google street-views is greatly helpful for traveler, as it give us road map, distance of the targeted location from the place where I'm now.
