Thread: Which one is better? Canon 1000D or Nikon D3000

I will be buying a DSLR this Christmas. I am a total newbie so I'm buying an inexpensive one (just entry level).

Which one is better? Canon 1000D or Nikon D3000

They are both good but I suggest you to go for Nikon. Because most of my photographer friends trust Nikon

i am a photographer and i love nikon so am biased to it.

but you need to make a choice keeping in mind what the lenses you would want to have later.

My friends used canon and I saw their photo project, but a little bit expensive, (that's my opinion), in the end you'll be the one to decide what to used.:smartass:

both are good cameras. when deciding which one go for the price and compare features. i have a nikon but will consider a canon anytime.

as everyone above have said, look on what features they got and choose, but choose wisely, once you go for either, moving to the other brand will be quite expensive (I've sold my Pentax K20D because I'm moving in a week, plans are to go for a Canon 45D and build up my equipment from the ground up around canon)

Personally like canon more, but nikon knows what their doing.

I prefer Canon system over Nikon... but more important are good lens and skills I think.

I have always preferred the Nikon cameras over Canon.

They are both very nice examples. Handling them both usually decides matters. Just out of interest, which did you end up purchasing?

I have Canon 450 and prefer Canon instead of Nikon!

Can you link to a good compared review of the two models?

Spend some good time in a store just playing with them both. I did all my research online, then went into the store and found some appealed to me way more than others.

Personally I found Cannon's to be a bit more user friendly overall, but I'm just getting into it with my first DSLR.

My vote goes to Canon 1000D......

Nikon vs. Canon

I find Canon to be a bit more 'user friendly' than Nikon. The menu is a lot more easier to understand especially if you are plannng on buying an entry level camera.
I also have a Canon but mine is able to go underwater as well. I used it most recently when I went scuba diving in Croatia. It took wonderful pictures of all the fishes and coral underwater but also took great pictures of us chilling out and eating dinner at our villa that we rented.

I have the Canon 1000D and I am happy with it. I just don't know if the Nikon is a better one.

for a long time i try to live time without my Nikon d90 bundle. it was thr greatest camera! i tink toy can choose nikon and only nikon

No matter what the brand is, it still depends on your skills I think. But I prefer Nikon over Canon..

If I were in your place then I would have chosen Canon 1000D, as canon is a old company and it has been releasing quality products over years..

I think, the best - Nikon D3100!

I switched from Nikon to Canon many years ago, and never looked back.
Also, a good lens is sometimes more important than the camera model

however cannon is best cam,but i preffer the nikon to buy.

Nikon 3000 is really good

Canon 1000D, great capture and more user friendly. I haven't tried Nikon, though, but I knew some of my friend photographers use Nikon and it takes out beautiful pictures. But if you're just starting out better use the use friendly.

i think nikon is good coz personaly i like this camera...

I've been using Canon SX200 for a long time,in fact it was gifted by my father . My votes goes for Canon.

I think Canon is bit good brand than Nikkon for camera producing, and i have no idea on nikkon D3000 but have good experience with Canon 1000D. So i might suggest you for Canon.

I would go for Nikon D3000. I think for camera nikon is better than canon. Canon 1000D also very good cam guess i'm just little bit biased towards nikon.
