Tim, how close were you to those birds in actuality?
Beautiful shot of the moon.

 Do I make you ____y baby :P
I was between 11.7' and 40.8', where ' = "feet" for you Canadians. Feet is a unit of measurement (also for the Canadians).
keep in mind that I cropped all of the pics, throwing away about 44% of the image. So it looks like I am closer than I actually was.
That's why the REALLY long telephoto lenses cost thousands and thousands of $$ - b/c you need a lot of reach for wildlife stuff!!
-----------------------------------
like a great sport lens, 300mm/2.8 is like pushing $4K
these were 200mm x 3 (teleconverter) x crop factor 1.6 = 960mm
so really I was like lightyears away from the action

The metric I learned in school is the same as your metric, they then changed it afterwards, which is dumb, cause it was one way, the way my parents know, then another way, then back.
The moon shot reminds me of a very interesting news article I read today about a planet they just find outside our solar system, it could be all rock like earth or a big frozen ice ball it says... it also may be livable. I loved the picture of it.I think an artist painted it up but it looks real.

My wishes of "grandeur" (meeting a nice, good man) will never be met so I give up hoping.
For now I will enjoy the views you share.![]()

I'm holding off on mowing my lawn as long as possible... I hate mowing it the front is fine but our backyard is a double lot so it is too big and our rider is broke and we never fixed it for some reason, something simple too. We had a snake out their last year so I'm a wimp out there. I scream when I see a snake and my useless dog runs away instead of protecting me.

Iowadawg does not mow.
Have someone who comes by and does that chore.
I really should carry my camera with me at all times.
Have seen some darn good looking pheasants.
Plus across the street, a bunch of turkeys gather every so often.
Turkeys look prettier in the wild than on a farm.
Still waiting to see a black bear (supposed to be on the rise here).
May go mushroom hunting on my day off.
Up to the wife.
Nothing like fresh sauteed morels (and this coming from someone who would never touch mushrooms).

hey I'm a wimp too with snakes. I found one a long time ago in a drum we keep at the back to store water for washing, he was 2 feet, ugly and swimming (or was it drowning, heck snakes are good swimmers). good thing I didn't dip my jug in on impulse and looked before I did anything or I'd be in for a painful surprise.
I don't like roaches either, especially the ones who know how to fly
