Thread: Redemption's Photography (Please Look!)

Well, take it easy on me. When I took these, I just bought the camera 2 days before and I was experimenting a little. I wasn't a Photographer up until that point (but I've always wanted to be one).

Some of these I'm just proud of, others are actually artistic.

Thanks! I've never had a digital camera before and I finally got one so I was pretty excited. Makes me want to get into journalism now or something close.

5 = Dad's Cigarette Tray (I don't smoke, I've tried in the past, but it's not worth it)

A) grrr, the exif data has been removed, so what camera are you using?

B) you've got a great eye for never having had a camera before!

1) I really like the first one but don't be afraid to shoot in the portrait orientation (long ways up & down). I like the shot but I think it would be stronger without the towel rack and outlet on the right

2) awesome job angling the camera so that the flash did not blow out the highlights on her face. if you understand that, you are miles ahead of avg. joe picture taker guy. you achieved a great balance of lighting there which is very difficult with an on camera flash

3) again portrait orientation here, don't cut off the pups legs

4) great lighting and focus. love the repetition on the wrenches.

5) it's tough with macro, but one of the "cardinal sins" is putting your subject dead center in the frame....check out the "rule of thirds" - while more of a guideline, it's good to be aware of composition does and don't if you will. in this particular case I like it as is b/c the focus is spot on and the DOF(depth of field - the point at which the background begins to come out of focus) works nicely.

6) tighter crop...don't leave 1/8th of his snout

7) gnarly rug! again, like the rest, great technically.

8) nice exposure and use of available light

9) cute candid

10) eat a cheeseburger!

I definitely will soon. Thank you for all the comments! Some of these I didn't plan on taking it from an artistic standpoint. I just took it because I could (like the ones with my dog). The wrenches I took for my dad's item on his eBay listing. (he told me to surprise him). Also, for the cigarette one, I cropped it before I added it to this thread. It's actually in the bottom right in the real picture. And for the cheeseburger one, you don't even know how much I eat. lol. I'm the most athletic person I know (won Iron Viper weightlifting competition for most strength and endurance). I work out almost every day.
