Default Swamii - The What's new engine

Swamii is a great search engine for the folks like me who love spying what's going on in the Internet world. This search engine is pretty useful for data mining purposes.

Just add your favorite subject keyword and this search engine will search Web, Blogs, Videos, etc to give you highly filtered results.

Example: Add "AJAX" as your favorite subject and this search engine will keep an eye on the new things happening in the AJAX segment.

Thanks for sharing. I think these types of sites are a waste of time for the creators, cause not many will care to leave their favorite search engine, also not many care for the fancy stuff, but it's fun to find new stuff, I just don't see it making it big.

Oh, and I certainly don't want to register just to use the damn thing, dammit!

looks cool. But don't think it can make an impact.
every one using search engines for quick and easy results.

I know, the concept here is different, but ....

I did and have been using it since I registered. I'm using it in many different ways.

Though I'm not gonna write my Swamii uses tricks, I'll like to make one thing clear... and that is:

"If you try to think about Swamii in a different way, you'll find it pretty useful. If you try to compare it with Google or Yahoo as a normal search engine, you'll never come to think about the benefits that Swamii is ready to offer."

One thing that I've noticed on the Web sounds pretty stupid (no pun intended). People directly start to compare a newly started site/portal/directory/service/etc with a really powerful one that has existed on the web for years.

The simple thing is that you should try to think in many different ways if you really want to compare things.

You are welcome, Colleen! You are hesitating in registering on Swamii... just throw away that hesitation and you'll find how useful this Swamii engine is.

It does look extremely interesting, but as earlier stated I cant see it really catching on too much compared to the big three.

the concept is actually pretty good. nice to see things like this coming up. i'd differ with those who say there's always google. there was always yahoo before google. that didn't stop them. i'm not saying swamii will become annother google, but i know a few people who still use ask.com as their primary search engine. why? because it suits them better. there's a niche for everything...

one bug: try changing your country or entering your email id, and you get a page full of iis error messages.

I registered and am using it for a one-stop place for GEO related news for areas I'm interested in blogging about (for example). It's not a real robust news source.. I notice alot of the links come thru Topix.net which I use anyway. The subscribe to news via email portion of the site produces a script error when you try to subscribe.. but it's another handy source.

I like this more and more as I continue to use it.. I add "interests" and they send the links to me via email at intervals I specify.. saves time hunting around and helps with blog content.

Swammi, is really the nice Engine built by some developer. But here comes one question in my mind that if there are search engines like Google.com and Yahoo.com offering such great services, why is there a need of such Engines.

Isn't this called self promoting technique?
