Thread: Submit to Alexa

I thought I would make this post as I often get asked how you submit your site to Alexa. This is not a necessity as Alexa will find you anyway. But here is how to do it if you want to.

Type the following into your browser replacing the last bit with your website

http://alexa.com/data/details/contact_info?url=yourwebsite.com

Then you have several options to verify that you own the site. The easiest one which I always use it to just upload a .txt link from the Alexa website to your root directory, Alexa will then find this and confirm that you own the website in question.

I've submitted my site manually on Alexa and of course I'm waiting for the approval but I don't think that's direct if I'm correct?

instead DL alexa toolbar ... alexa will know itself as you visit the site.

I think we don't need to do it since Alexa will find the site anyway. But you are right this is quite easy to use and handy. Very helpful.

Atleast with Alexa you get approved versus dmoz! LOL Nice post though, I'm just a cynic today :P
