Google,yahoo,MSn ........Who is the first search engine and Which day it leached?

I think that the first one was Google.

Archie was the first one in 1993, then Veronica. Later Excite and a few other less known ones came along in the same year.

Google was founded in 1996, and Yahoo in 1994 if I remember well. Fut Google is by far number one.

Yahoo started earlier than Google but Yahoo wasn't just a search engine then too, unlike Google. Still, there are a few other search engines which started earlier to these two, but the main focus on the web was Google and is still the same.

to search information google is the best among them i hope so...

I think yahoo directory come first then google .com and then yahoo.com. Is it right?

Google of course, and I used to be a die-hard fan of Yahoo for years...

i started using yahoo since elementary so i think yahoo was first launched than google.

Yahoo is elder brother of Google, but younger brother dominated in search market.

In my opinion Google always stay in the first position. The newly arrived search engines cannot beat Google. I think they tried to copy Google.

Archie was the first search engine in the world. Google which managed to unite everybody appeared only in 1996.

It's not a matter of who's first but what matters is who's best.
Google's best and that's what everyone knows alex and by the way , why do you want to know who's first among the search engines?

Jerry Yang and David Filo created Yahoo in 1994. Google was launched in 1997 by Sergey Brin and Larry Page.

I'm surprised that anyone is talking about Google... Alta Vista, Excite and WebCrawler were among the first on the market and Alta Vista is still very good!

Yahoo entered first but now Google only the best. meet again.

Years ago, i would use mainly AltaVista and Lycos for searching purposes. Then bang, Google seemed to come out of nowhere and grab the lions share of the market.

Gogole is definitely the first of three, second is yahoo and then Bing and all the other search engines.

Right now im using Google and yahoo.

I don't know which day it leached? but Maybe google is the first search engine to any other.

Anyway, Archie was the first search engine and not Google nor Yahoo. Its 1st implementation was about 1990 while Google was began around 1996 6 years after Archie was established.
