Thread: What Will Replace Yahoo as 3rd Top Search Engine?

I am curious to hear other webmasters opinions on this question, what search engine to you think will replace, or would you like to replace Yahoo as the Top 3rd Search Engine worldwide?

I highly doubt that it will be ask.com or Lycos, maybe HOTBOT who know?

Which one is #4 now, could be that one but you never now what things will get jumbled once yahoo is take offline.

Curious to know what you think?

Yea now it is, but I am talking about once Yahoo is completely out of the search game, bing will move up to number 2 and something will have to replace #3?

To my mind Bing will, because it is chasing Google by the share of the market.

So in your opinion, bing will remain at #3 and some other search engine will move above bing to the # 2 spot?

I think many people are using ask.com these days.
BTW what makes you think yahoo will get out of the game totally?
Bing will never be as popular as google or yahoo because their market is limited. only a handfull of people using internet explorer use their search service.

Nothing. As we in fact have only Google and Yahoo which are really working and they don't seem to let their places to something else.

Bing cold move up. They moved into that deal with Yahoo! to expand their market share. They will probably move forward as Yahoo! backs away from the search business. We also don't know if any other major search companies will start in the future. I can picture niche search engines popping up since it's impossible to compete with Google.

Hi) i have a question: when Yahoo said such a thing? maybe its just to draw attention to them?

I guess Yahoo will never get off of the search engine market because they were (and still are) giants so they will not give up easily. But for the 3rd best search engine, I think it will be Bing.

I think the major players will hold their current position in the pecking order. I can't see it changing unless they have takeovers/mergers etc.

Ask is the smart answer, but I also like Gigablast

I think yahoo comes 1st before bing. Yahoo has alot more users than bing. And not only that, yahoo has more features compared to bing.

Yes I agree to you google, yahoo and then bing. but in the future if bing replaces yahoo then maybe the gigablast or ask will be the next top #3 search engine.

Yahoo is best search engine after Google and i think Bing will replace as 3rd top search engine. Bing across the Google in share marketing and it will became famous day by day using new activities.

After the closing of Yahoo Search Engine, I think Ask will be there on #3 search engine.

blekko is new and a unique search engine. It's becoming popular very quickly so it may be the one for your 3rd or even 2nd position.

I think Alta Vista will replace Yahoo..

I think bing.com will replace Yahoo. Lots of people are getting hooked to bing these days.

I doubt Yahoo will go. There was some talk about Bing and Yahoo combining but there's been nothing on that for a while.

To answer your questions, I'd hope it would be Ask but one things for sure it will be interesting if yahoo does go....
