I've seen this topic in discussion over and over again, and I dont know what to think anymore. Seems like half of community reported susses with duplicated content and others failed. But personally I am in favor of unique content.

Well you can use duplicate content but you have to rewrite it in a way that it passes the google panda update.

This will produce the following variations:

Plus swap a few internal words around and you can create 100's of articles from just 1.

Warning though, it does take a long time to spin an article properly. For me I can write a good article in 30 minutes. To spin that article will take me at least 4 hours to get it exactly right.
