Thread: New Search Features from Ask.com

Looks like BING is not the only Search Engine revamping their search algorithm and providing new features to their search users.

Honestly I rarely ever use Ask.com - What's Your Question? to search for anything, but I admire their efforts in providing innovation to the overall Search Engine game.

Here are the main features of the new Ask.com (as described by the company):

Never really heard of Ask and it search engine until a few of my sites started getting traffic from them!
I was wondering how Ask found my site, so I checked out the FAQ's
and found this

Q: How did the Ask Website crawler find my URL?
A: The Ask crawler finds pages by following links (HREF tags in HTML) from other pages. When the crawler finds a page that contains frames (i.e., it is a frameset), the crawler downloads the component frames and includes their content as part of the original page. The Ask crawler will not index the component frames as URLs themselves unless they are linked via HREF from other pages.
Q: What types of links does the Ask crawler follow?
A: The Ask crawler will follow HREF links, SRC links and re-directs.

Since I been getting traffic and some of my sites have good SERP.."Ask " becoming one of my favorite search engines!

That is neat briguy, so if I read that correctly...ask.com does not gather links from the individual site itself, it lists links if that link is on another website?

Links for different domains?

Does ask.com offer any sort of webmaster tools for their search engine?

Well I sure appreciate your opinion and the shortness of it..but as long as I am getting traffic from Ask.com, and putting money in my pocket, (isn't that the bottomline) it gonna be one of my favorites!

Just because Ask.com is not as popular as Bing, Yahoo or Google...does not mean that a webmaster should not optimize for it or still monitor and track their own listings under this search engine.

Webmasters should be aware of how their sites look all across the board not just in Google

branding and promotion, SEO, Reputation Monitoring relies heavily on this.

Webmasters and even Internet Marketers need to be well rounded and familar with all Search Engines and online marketing strategies, and that includes ASK.com and any other search engine around.

This is a Fact!

The Ask.com is one of the best search engines after Google and Yahoo, this is my third selection at the time of working a search for information that I require to get together. The results are outstanding and even similar to the two. This site is known very few people as compare to the Google and yahoo.

ask.com is not a famous search engine like yahoo msn.

It will be difficult for a new search engine to cope with the high level of competition on the market and to cope with Google as well because Google is the leader on the market nowadays.

I will try these features in ask I use it very often.
