    Default Getting traffic with images

I had heard of this technique to get into the search engines and get traffic.
Simply take images on your site, and name them with your keywords, or with a name that people would search on google using their image search.

Just now, ran an image search for the term "iowadawg".
The top 5 images brought up, 4 of them were mine.
2 lead to my sites, the another one leads to phpld template and one leads to a site where I have my blog listed.

    So, does this sound good?
To put an image on your site and name it with the above?

I think it is a good way to get traffic to your site but although useful, I haven't seen it do any wonders on the conversion rate of traffic into sales for any of the sites I've handled.

The idea is good but will it work only if we search IMAGES from google?

I mean those keywords will come up when we search WEB on search engines?

Lots of people do image searches constantly.
So why leave that part on the table?
If you look at google's home page, there are lots of ways to search besides just keywords, phrases, etc.

The newest way is via videos.
    Looking into that myself.

There's actually a fair amount of optimisation you can do to get your images ranked:

    1. Keywords near image (supposedly within 1-8 words in source code)
    2. Alt text
    3. Keywords in file name
    4. Keywords in URL (of image location)

(And use hyphens to seperate keywords in urls, filenames etc)

There are a couple more things but I can't remember at the moment.

I've seen stats that show traffic from images isn't actually that bad quality - obviously not as good as an actual keyword search but it turns out that many people search images and then go on to browse your site.

Must admit, getting traffic from image search engines can be good traffic. It can still be converted. It is just harder to get it to convert into sales, but it can be done.

    agreed john933

it's fairly easy to rank your images high into image searches but it will have to take a very very good image to get things selling lol unless I guess it's for adult products

Traffic for some sites is great.

Take travel for example, I get a bit of traffic from Google image for travel related searches. I name my images, i.e. beach-holiday.jpg if it's a picture of a beach etc.

Yes, it a god way to get traffic.
However, you need to rename them with relevant keywords
Let's say you have a Real Estate site, so you'll name your images like home_for_sale.jpg or rental_property.jpg....

I find that image search works well for funny picture type sites aswell as people see a funny image and then click on it and go to your site that has more funny pictures on it.

I have written this a while ago and traffic from images works. It's not that simple that you just add an alt tag and name the file with keywords. It does work well, but not as well as having text above, below and around the image validating the content of the image.

It is not hard to get traffic via image search engines. Those traffic will be organic and targeted. A lot of webmasters are using the same concept now.

I agree that getting traffic from images, really contributes your seo efforts. It can also convert with normal traffic. who does not love free traffic!
