Hello everyone! Is sitemap applicable for blogs? What is XML Sitemap? Where to be found? Any thoughts about this.

Hi,

XML Sitemap allows search engines to crawal all the web pages very frequently. It can set the priority of the each page to crawl and crawler tracks the updates or changes made in the site immediately. XML Sitemap helps the spider in fast indexing that allows search engines to rank accurately.

A site map is just like road map, if you have then you can easily go to your destination and more chance to cache all pages of the site.
The XML sitemap protocol is specifically designed for spiders. So for a blog its depend on you.

For blog your Rss feed work as your sitemap, you need to submit your rss url to webmaster tool as a sitemap

The Sitemaps protocol allows a webmaster to inform search engines about URLs on a website that are available for crawling. A Sitemap is an XML file that lists the URLs for a site. It allows webmasters to include additional information about each URL: when it was last updated, how often it changes, and how important it is in relation to other URLs in the site. This allows search engines to crawl the site more intelligently. Sitemaps are a URL inclusion protocol and complement robots.txt, a URL exclusion protocol.

XML sitemap is a just another version of sitemap which is created in XML format. It helps search engines to identify urls of you site and index it. There are many tools online where you can create free xml sitemap. Submit you sitemap to Web Master Tools so that maximum number of pages from your site get indexed by search engine.

There are two types of sitemaps one is HTML and second one is XML.
HTML is created from the view point of user it helps user to know and navigate through our site while XML site map is created from the view point of search engine. It helps search engine spider to crawl and index our site.

yes this is true.
So which one should we go for ??? is HTML site map more beneficial or necessary or the XML is beneficial ?

Yes XML sitemap is useful and important for blog. Because it describes the search engine the details of ur blog. You can find your blog's sitemap on blogname.com/atom.xml

XML sitemap is a way to guide search engine boat. Search engine read it and index all pages of your websites which are included into site maps. The main benefits of sitemap is- If you have a page which are don’t linked by other pages of your website than Sitemap help to crawl those pages.

You mentioned blogs. If you have for example a wordpress blog there is a great automatic sitemap generator plugin that is free. Some templates and framework also come with a sitemap feature. If they have that ability built in just add it to google webmaster tools or bing webmaster tools.
