Hi All.
So today i'm using Open Site Explorer to take a look at a competitor website's back links. I go on the Domains tab, because it's neater to look at, and i only got to look at the first two pages but what i found was quite a lot of trusted domains and alot of .edu .org .gov .ac.uk
So i thought to myself hmm.. interesting i wonder how he's getting these links. I expand the domains to see the actually linking page and most of them are not from HTML pages but from downloadable files. They cannot be opened in a browser. Just a few examples of files include - .mts (video file), .accdb (access database?), .sas7bdat (never heard of this), .dem (a video game demo file??).
I'm just baffled by it. Anyone else seen anything like this. This competitor site actually has very high Google rankings for extremely competitive search phrases.
