Why do you Blog?

I'd be interested to hear why people blog.

Do you blog to market your business or to earn an income or just because you enjoy writing about the subject of your blog?

For me it was an outlet (when I blogged). I found it was a nice way to relieve stress and get stuff off my mind, but when the blog ends up bringing you more stress, it's no longer worth it.

I blog because I enjoy travelling and travel. I've had some great exposure and I'm on my way to becoming more recognised as a travel blogger within the travel industry, which was and still is my aim.

I've had my blog featured in the Washington Post, San Antonio Express, San Francisco Chronicle, Metro and Sydney Morning Herald, plus a few internet magazines.

Some people say that online advertising is no longer popular because of Google Adsense etc. but that's completely not true in my experience, with companies like Alamo and Bizrate, coming to me to advertise on my blog.

The other blogs I've started were for promotions and I loved cars and traveling to Australia that I figured I wanted to blog about them... Then there's my personal blog where I use to release stress, unwind and have my own little personal corner online.

I just started the other day (if you don't count myspace).

One of the reasons I like it, I enjoy trying to make people laugh, which of course is often difficult online for a variety of reasons.

I also found it a good outlet to show some of my photography. I take years to update my website with new material so this was a quick and easy way of getting some of my pics "out there".

And hey, if I can make some seed $ along the way, all the better. Good lenses ain't cheap!!!

Tim, my grama and spelin is shocking! Seriously, whilst the Google toolbar helps with the spelling, I have to read and read the blog entry over and over again.

I'm horrible about proofing but I think you're right, for those with less than a BA in Gramma - it is important to do so.

I blog mostly for link popularity. There are many good free blog hosts out there, all on different ip addresses. So you just write one article and submit to each new blog. My favorite free blog host is http://www.blogurple.com because they do not put ads on your blog and they give you a lot of templates.

I find it as the easiest way to leave my daily remarks and frustration on pages for visitors to read.

Besides the way blogs run and show latest posts on top of all others, is just the way I want it presented.

In addition, blogs are indexed better, which supports my decision to use blog and not a CMS for the same.

Content is usually daily political news and discussions.

Well this is a very good question... See i do blogging for both money and for blogging ... but i try to keep both of them separate. Like the blogs which i write out of interest. I dont put adsense there or sell links. I keep it open and add on my blogroll only those good quality blogs which i like reading.

Somewhere i also blog for making money. Speaking frankly ... creating blogger blogs ...mad posting..... getting backlinks --- getting PR.. selling links.... and stuffinf with adsense and all those..

But i always keep both the aspects completely separated.

Well this is a very good question... See i do blogging for both money and for blogging ... but i try to keep both of them separate. Like the blogs which i write out of interest. Sorry, but these are the worst types of blogs - ones that are created just got link building. I'm seeing loads of crap blogs which have been created like a link farm - hopefully yours aren't as bad as that and have some unique content.

I love writing! that's the main reason why i made my own blog at multiply, blogspot, zorpia and many more! I just simply love sharing stories about myself and the things that are happening to me. My Blog is my bestfriend for I can write anything there without being judge back. I can write all my emotions in it. pain, anger and even share my happy thoughts and a lot of memories.

I agree with Kalina - those types of blogs are the ones I enjoy reading the most.

There's far too many adsense designed blogs and marketing blogs out there nowadays.

I only have a personal blog at the moment. I write in it, about a variety of subjects, just because I can.

If I get readers, especially loyal ones, then that's a bonus.
