Cool Social Networking v/s Directory Submissions.

I would prefer social bookmarking sites anytime for traffic.I usually go in for free and basic submissions while submitting my websites to directories. The thing is free directory submissions are reviewed every two months and only then it is submitted to the category, where as in case of social bookmarking sites which always have a high amount of traffic it is easier to get visitors.Write an article relating well to your keywords and submit it to the relevant category.I do it in orkut,Myspace I have placed my blog sites there and have already received complements for my posts. The reason there is no reviewal of anything.Just submit to the category and if your article or blog is realy good you start getting traffic straight away. And yes don't forget to add the URL of your website at the end of your post.

Put in your comments as to which is better.....

They both have their pros. I use directories mainly for the free one-way link back to my site and I choose relevant directories only so as to help with my rankings. As for social bookmarks, it's mainly for the sudden traffic boost after I submit articles and other entries there. After the initial submission, the traffic usually comes to a stop after 2 or 3 days - longer if people really liked what I submitted.

True, I tell everyone that directories are only for backlinks.

Social networks can give you a boost in traffic, but so can using the traffic generation services that send bogus traffic.
To wit, the traffic is the same, mostly very useless.

I've been liking the social networking submissions better, but probably cause it's newer, I guess I am just bored with directories, I've seen visits from social networking sites but never directories, so I guess it depends what matters more to you.

^ Although with social bookmarking, there's also a slim chance that people will keep coming back to your blog since they'll be able to read your other contents. Even if it's a slim chance, I guess it's still worth it.

I don't see how anyone could prefer directory submissions. I dread submiting to directories so bad and have never recieved any traffic from it.

I prefer social booking sites like digg. Directory submission in dmoz.org is not easy.

what is good in social networking is that its interactive
directory is also good because it provides you a stable backlink but in contrary it takes time before they get to review your submission

It's not that long if you know which directories to submit to. The best directories to submit to is new ones that need the fill... However some like quick traffic. One thing tho a link in a directory lasts for long and counts for rank.

Both are helpful, but I find social bookmarking better.
I used social bookmarking more rather than directories submission.

directory submission is better only if you have your only big database with new, not spamy directories
