I am just a new SEO and i am not familiar in social networking. I know some social bookmarking but not social networking. Is social networking and network of blogs are the same?

IMHO, they have similarities.. I'm a noob like you too.. just a newcomer in this field.

What I understand is that "Social Bookmarking" is like submitting your site's URL to "Bookmarking" sites like Digg, StumbleUpon, Sphinn and etc...

"Social Networking" is like having a "Blogroll Exchange" link between sites..

I might be wrong.. I'm also trying to comprehend all this.

Social networking is using website such as myspace and facebook to promote yourself through social profiles that you create on the websites. My preferred social network is squidoo. Squidoo has a "wikipedia" flavor to it in that you can create custom web pages on the site to promote your products or services. I know wikipidia is not used for promoting stuff but they both have the same type of customizing capabilities.

I use many social networks both professionally and personally. There are many out there, some that are worthwhile of your time and some that are not. (I didn't really find much value in Squidoo.)

It's really about taking the time to engage and interact with other users. That's where you'll win!

I used squidoo many times but I never thought about squidoo like I thought about wikipedia, anyway I like your concept.

I've used the following recently and they seemed to work well. Online Bookmark Manager - StartAid was the best of the bunch for me.

social networking can help in getting instant traffic, though it may be unstable.

As for the post of this topic, it's best to use sites like StumbleUpon as it is guaranteed traffic but as swastik said, it's unstable at any means. Just use targeted keywords that meets your sites niche to gain traffic. You will be fine if you join the 3 top most useful social networking sites IF you know which ones best fit your sites category.

Social bookmarking doesn't guarantee traffic. But it's a good way to 'seed' new articles and content. So that, other people find it and bookmark it themselves.

Don't over do the bookmarking. So sites like digg ban members that spam.

A lot of people confuse the terms Social Bookmarking, Social Media / News, Social Networking.

Social Bookmarking is passive, you post your bookmarks for others to share and you can get good links (and in some cases traffic) examples are del.icio.us, furl, simpy etc

Social Media / News sites are one where you post articles / blog comments etc and get voted on etc examples are Digg, Newsvine, Reddit, Propeller, Mixx

Social Networking site are the latest generation of all of these sites and consist of sites where you join communities, interact with friends and customers online etc. Examples are Facebook, Myspace Twitter etc.

A good marketing Campaign should be a mix of all three with an emphasis on whatever suits the Campaign site best. Digg might be ideal for some but disastrous for others etc.

I was looking at something that I hadn't noticed before last night. Where on del.icio.us you can set up a network. That would be great for a niche or special interest site.

Actually, I think this is a great point. You certainly do want to consider all of this when launching a social media-centric campaign.

I also think the more networking you do, the more "qualified" traffic you are potentially getting. Granted, it's more work and you might not get huge amounts of traffic, but it will certainly be traffic that's interested in your product, service, website, or topic of conversation.

Yes you will be the moderator of your own group and along with this responsibility you will be allow to either make your group private or public allowing only the members which you class as been helpful rather then the DP farse we have today.

With blogs, Articles, Classified Ads, A small forum, and much more it will be interesting to see if anyone is interested in setting up and controlling a community which is specifically aimed at professionals within the internet but not strictly limit to them.

Stumble and digg are the best social websites. Its better if some one else is also stumbling your website. It also depends what for site you have a do it with web proxies for that it works great.
