MORE MySpace BS....big surprise

While 'Tom' and company are busy harassing entrepreneurs, bands, photographers, commerce web sites about "spamming" - they have their heads up their asses about something else that really sucks....

I have been getting bombed by compromised profiles sending me phishing comments...

"profile tracker" and "Best ecard ever"

I bet I get 20 of those every 4.4 days.

the former is EVEN worse in that you CAN'T delete the comment!!!!

Somehow the hackers have figured out code to include in the comment that renders the "delete comment" link useless.

So while people are getting flagged for sending genuine comments and messages, the phishing thing is out of control....

Big freakin' joke, MySpace wouldn't know a good plan if it bit them in the ass and whispered in their ear.

I can't imagine it would be hard to block that type of code from comments!!

WTF!

They have already blocked embed code in groups and things of that nature!

I don't get people, why do they decided such stupid, pointless spamming tactics are a "good idea" and waste time creating loopholes to get around the system.

what you need to get is dmoz + myspace and stick a couple sticks a dynamite under there servers and get rid of them for good.

MySpace blows I just had a nice custom layout done for my forums' myspace. Let me know what you think odjt myspace At any rate, its too bad I spent money on it or I would delete the account.

I keep getting friend requests from "hot chicks" that when you view their profile it's completely covered with a "The profile is protected" and a picture of stupid Tom. You click the link it takes you to download a file which contains a virus. I don't visit MySpace anymore unless I'm in Linux. Its too risky to visit with XP.

MySpaces' "security" is a joke! What MySpace needs to do is stop allowing any old HTML to posted, that would take care of a lot of the BS.

I don't know and I agree. If you don't have anything better to do than Phish myspace accounts...then really...should you even be allowed oxygen?

Well, they've got what, 100 million or so profiles to manage? It's not hard to see why they have so many technical issues as well as poor management practices in general.

Myspace is pretty stupid anyway. There are less obnoxious means to communicate with friends - personally, I really like vBulletin boards.

:soldier: well it's up to 155 million "profiles" only 23 million actual users

3 days now on the current issue I spoke of. You would think that they would be further ahead of the curve than they are currently. Seems like they are always 7 steps behind the 8-ball.

Ha. Every time I sign into MySpace no less than 5 minutes later I get friend requests from hot chicks. Who wouldn't want to be "friends" with hot chicks? If you add them, all they do is send bulletin spam you or have a "my space profile" protector which requires you to download an .exe. Hrmm.. Yeah right, I'm going to download a random .exe from a site I don't know.. You have a better chance of seeing Jesus himself jump out of your monitor.

I have to say MySpace does handle requests well, slowly but they handle them. One day I was board and viewed source of one of the "protected' profiles to get the report link. They deleted the profile, 2-3 weeks later but it was done.

What MySpace should really do is use a bbcode system like forums and have their own profile generators and only allow that system to post CSS to the profiles.

What's killing them is the ability for anyone to post any old HTML.

true, slow indeed. whenever I get a response from them I have to think...now what the heck was this about?? oh yeah, a month ago I reported a link!

those "hot chicks", aka spam whores, I get lots of them too. I got one the other day, link that said w.myspace.com but it was a rediret to this other site...looked just like the myspace login page except the URL at the top was w.areyoureallythisdumb.com/~iwillFyouover/
or something like that :P

Dare I say, I survived there for one whole week...But by next week I was drown in the spam.. The 100s of 'frnds' request killed me..
Now I am destined to live a zombie life, all thanks to mysapce..

ok, now the RECTIFY link works to 'fix' the situation but what I can't figure out is that I can still send comments - I just can't send messages.

I don't want to follow the RECTIFICATION link b/c what if it's just a glitch AND plus, supposedly - 2 strikes and you are out!

so if I proceed I might get pinched!
