Thread: Twitter has a New Bug Get Followers

Twitter got a bug. You can get people to follow you.

Twitter has an embarrassing bug on its hands – one that allows users to make anyone follow them. Mashable reader Ozan Yılmaz emailed us the details this morning, writing “[tweet] accept [username]” then the [username] immediately starts following you.”

Looks like they have the bug fixed now.

The bug let people add followers simply by typing 'accept' followed by a twitter name. This would have allowed spammers to build huge new mailing lists if the process could have been automated and there are some reports of celebrities being signed up as followers to people's accounts.

Maybe the bugs comes from other twitter tools because like for example if you are using other twitter tools like hootsuite once you drag other post to repost it; you'll easily follow the person who made the post and he/she'll automatically follow you.

It shouldn't come as a surprise, many platforms are riddled with unforeseen bugs
