Thread: Tweet to Get Followers

It is very simple to get followers to follow you on twitter. All you have to do its use twitter lol.

Simple enough, just by tweeting you are generating content using the microblogging tool Twitter.

This content then shows up in search engines and also on twitter search.

Someone search for a term, you tweet shows up, if they like it they follow you.

I honestly rarely use twitter but i use it to have a social media presence and use it inform the world about important site updates and new feature launches.

In solely doing this, I have accumulated 7 follower. Not whooping number of follower I know, but these are people that found me I did not have to find them.

Also I am currently no following anyone and these people still found me and have continued to follow me. :happy-f:

Lol, I know it sounds horrible but I just honestly have not had time to scroll through millions of people's profiles just to find anyone that I would actually be interested in following.

It is my intention to eventually get to it and fully engage in following people on twitter. I am actually trying to see if my cousin wants to become my sort of Social Media person and handle that kind of stuff for me.

I just thought it was interesting to find out that, even with me not following anyone people followed me, and I only have a very few tweets

See now that's the thing, currently I am using Hitlinks Analytics and so far, according to them none of my tweets forwarded me any traffic.

However there are alot of first time unique site visitors, but when i go to check on where they came from, Hitlinks tells me a lot of them were either direct links or bookmarks.

Obviously they are not coming from my bookmarks because My bookmarking stats tell me that no one has used them.

So could these "direct links" be from my tweets, not sure would would be interesting to find out.

It's hard to get follower on twitter

I got 7 followers without doing a damn thing, so I do not think that it is that hard to get people to follow you on twitter

It could be that those 7 followers are just following you to get you to follow them back; and then unfollow you. This is a common trick on Twitter unless you're a known blogger in the community in which case those guys will stick around.

Now, if those followers are not clicking your links then it is useless have thing.

Oh Thanks, never thought of it like that. They may find my twitter page to be credible and authoritative so they just follow me to get more followers themselves.

I would really not like to think that this is the case.

So far I have been using twitter for 6 months and all 7 have remained to follow, without me following them back.

In the 6 months I have seen people come and go on my followers list, but those devout 7 stay strong.

How can you tell whether or not they are clicking on your links in either your profile or your tweets?

Because they are bitly links, isnt it impossible to track the original referer source?

Update: I have not logged into my twitter account for over a month, just logged in today and those same 7 followers I keep talking about are still following me.

So it goes to prove that by just simply have a few tweets floating out around out there people find you and follow you. The ones that actually take the initiative to search for and actually find you are the kind of followers you want, because they stick around.

Prior to knowing what a Retweet was I was only sending out regular tweet updates, but after learning what a Retweet is and how to use it here on the forum I have been utilizing this Retweet Twitter feature quite often.

In my previous post I was talking about how tweeting alone can get you followers, now that I learned how to Retweet, and starting using them I gained 2 more followers in under 1 hour.

So Tweeting does bring you followers, only thing is now finding relevant stuff to tweet about.

One main advantage (for me) is not only when I tweet about a new blog posting etc, I might get some visits from that twit!

Also, I can get a backlink from twitter to my site! Don't really care if it is "dofollow" backlink or not..hopefully when someone checks out my profile, they check out my site!

I Only Began Retweeting Yesterday and Now I am up to 13 followers, that was from a static 7 which stay at 7 for month.

I did a few retweets last night, and now I have 13, awesome

Most of the people who have followed me (that I do not know, either from forums or personally) are spam accounts (i.e. accounts that follow you just so you will follow them back - then post links to shite all the time).

Really, just posting to get followers isn't a good solution.

Thanks for you input, I am not just posting to get followers, my post actually provide content, information and insights into whatever I am currently working on, which right now is my biology content and SEO.

Since sending the tweet out, people following me have either been other biology sites or people interested in SEO.

So these people are following because they are interested in my content, I sent a biology up biology people start following me, I send an SEO update SEO specialists start following me.

Now the SEO have been trying to sell me stuff, but as far as the Biology people who are the ones that I want anyways are following me for my conte.t

So In Essence, Tweeting to Get Followers Does Work.

My Intention was not to get people to follow me, I could care less. All of the tweets I sent out were sent to inform and present Ideas.

So Unintentionally the end result was people who are interested in my content started following me.

It may seem hard to believe but it works for me, now obviously if you send out crap tweets yourself, you are going to get crap people following you.

My niche is in Science and Biology, thats all my tweets are about, and I am getting other biology sites following me, science organizations, biology students; quality people that my content is meant for.

So this does work, Don't send crap you wont get crap.

Now I am not saying that all of them are genuine followers, but the ones who in someway relate to my niche have been dedicated followers. While all the SEO specialists and people trying to promote themselve and sell services come and go all the time.

You should be glad that they stop following you, their following you does not provide any credence to you at all.

Cool Man, Glad to hear that it is working out for you. So far I am not having any complaints about using twitter for getting my Ideas out to the world.

However one thing that I do hate which I think twitter needs to fix is your profile page.

They allow you place a link to your homepage or any other website you wish, but when you go to look at your own profile, they cut your URL in half and don't even show your entire URL in your own Profile.

I think this is BS, so if your domain only consists of two words, only the first word is shown on your profile.

I dont not like this, Think my profile should display any information in anyways that I want. Like Myspace let you do

Happens to me all the time.

It's funny to think about spam accounts following spam accounts.

Lol, it is hilarious to think about spam accounts following spams account because they do exist.

If someone is sending spam, they will get spam followers, then the person sending the spam thinks that their tweet are credible.

Well that URL is still clickable by your profile visitors and indexable (by search engines)!

Yea, That is True. It still counts as a backlink, I really think it is just a branding thing, if someone is visiting my profile, would like them to see my full URL then that way it may remain in their memory.

I Think Twitter Does This on Purpose

I just use Twitter as a way of sharing my Ezine articles.

The key to getting followers in Twitter is by following others. However, you probably don't want to follow just anybody. You want to follow people who are interested in the things that you are interested in. So make a list of 7 keywords or things that you are interested in and then watch this video about how to sign-up for a free Twitter application that will allow you to follow people using your keywords. Because you both share an interest, there is a high probability that they will follow you back.

simply put, what I was trying to say in this thread was that by sending out useful and content driven tweets, tweets about yourself, your blog or your site. That by chance you may develop some followers, who decide to follow you because they found your tweet somewhere online; whether on twitter, your website, or in a search engine, does not matter! Once you hit a tweet the places that it can end up are endless.

So have you been sending out regular, informative and useful tweets on a regular basis? Try to make an effort to send out atleast 2-3 tweets out every day, also provide a link to your site in the tweet, try to use the full 140 character limit set out for each tweet, retweet what other people are talking about that is relavent to your site.

If people are interested in your content, they will come across it naturally and just may decide to follow you.

Well that is great that you have that many followers, I am not saying that by doing what I posted in the thread will get you thousands of followers. I am saying that by simply sending tweets, there is a chance that someone will follow you because they liked your tweet or even more what it was about.

When I first posted this thread I had 7 followers, now I have over 20 simply just sending out tweets about regular site updates and useful links to some of my pages. Also these followers I accumulated are ones that are either interested in my specific niche, work in my specific niche, are in college studying topics involved in my niche, and even notable businesses and organizations also other websites related to or currently promoting services about my niche; which is biology and health science. Not random people following me just so I can follow them.

I would rather have a small few amount of followers who are interested in my niche, more than thousands of crap followers who do not even read my tweets at all!

By the way, you say that you got that many followers without doing what I mentioned!
I highly doubt that because no one would follow you at all, not for long anyways if you dont even send out at least one informative tweet on a regular basis....Probably have lots of spam twitters following you if that is the case!

What I am saying that by doing this, you will gain followers who find your tweets useful and are interested in the TOPIC or NICHE that you are in! I do not have a personal twitter, my twitter is my sites twitter so I can care less about what people think about me, it is my content and what they can learn from my tweets that attracts followers, the kind of fully engaged and genuinely interested followers, the reall kind of followers that you should WANT and NEED to promote your site through means of twitter!

Getting more followers on Twitter it's the quality of your followers and how they connect with you that matters. There isn't really any point in having thousands and thousands of twitter followers, you could follow random and maybe they'll follow you back or follow celebs as well as maybe someone following that celeb will decide to follow you.

Thats the good thing about twitter, and when you make a post it shows up on your followers site, and their followers will see it, a nice pendulum effect

I still dont like twitter but have over 3000 followers now, havent spent any money or anything like that and probably post once a week if that. I find that site full of spam and quotes and you have to really search for interesting news.

i like the simplicity of this reminder. if you want followers, you have to put in the time(tweets). you have to have something to say that people will respond to. this leads to retweets and even more twitter gold!

it's easy to get followers on twitter.... just type #TeamFollowBack (or something like that) in every of your tweet, then you'll get followers who want you to follow them back

If you are a celebrity, then it will be easier to you to get more follower or not then if you tweet different attractive news or interesting topics then it will help you to get more visitor. In my personal account I got 7 followers in 2 days though I'm not a celebrity.

Yup, the simplicity of this fact is why I created the thread in the first place...most people wonder why their Twitter base is not expanding, yet they have not even tweeted about anything in months. It is just as simple as that, if you want to get more followers on Twitter, simply send out a tweet about something interesting.

If you tweet it, they will come!

But what I was describing in the original post was a way to get natural followers who actually want to follow you, not just accumulating followers who only follow you because they want you to follow them as well.
