I need to know whether it is really a good effort to advertise website through social networking sites. I've doubt on whether people who are real audience to a website actually run to social networking sites for their purpose. Please help clarify.

I've seen no benefit. They are an okay tool for large companies to connect with their customers better through a third party network. Other than that ...
long term yes but don't expect any short term results, problem is people think it all happens overnight.

Buy Website Traffic And Leads
Social network can help you generate traffic that eventually will be converted into ROI. The problem is people expect a mass traffic overnight. Generating traffic you need to work hard and put an effort to succeed. You have to think how many hours your target audience stayed in Facebook, myspace, tagged etc. The best thing you can do it; do what your target audience are doing by creating groups, following others, add people to your friendlist join groups etc. Once you involved yourself, you can expect a result.

The only benefit I've seen is that popular social networking websites improve your serps, don't get excited though, they do it just a bit
Social networks is a good way to have your say on celebrity gossips or whatever, not promoting your business
For some, I'm sure it definitely helps. For me, it hasn't. But then I think you need a siginificant amount of skill and expertise to achieve that kinda correlation between social networking and securing leads/sales.
Yup! As long as you know how it works. All you need to do is handle it carefully, since they can easily detect those account who just usually promote links and you may get banned.
PARTICIPATION in social networks is a MUST. So it could be very time consuming.

I have to fully agree with this answer.
In addition to that, I think that it's also very important that one establishes them self in the network as a viable, reliable, and authoritative presence. I see way to many people joining social network sites and all they do is advertise 24/7, or use generic 1 liner posts thinking it will help them.
For Optimal ROI a social network member needs to reach out to the community, genuinely contribute, build a reputation, help others, & establish a coop with other members that don't mind spending time in the development process either.
People that half-ass anything in life get half-ass results. Which is where the terms "You get out, what you put in" comes from.

No... It is failed Social Networking Sites unable to generate any sort of lead sales or impact to the business oriented companies for same reason i often dont see any advertisement conversion because people are more concentrated to facilitate taste of socialism neither to opt in any other service
Social networking sites can help increase leads, and sales, but you have to build a good firm relationship with your social network (i.e. friends) before selling them products and services

I have seen a 20-30 percent increase in traffic and probably a 10% yield on sales which is pretty great after using Twitter and/or Facebook.
Would have never tried it but a lot of members on my host's forum recommended it to me. Now I'm selling flowers left and right.
Social networking is now a must!
Facebook, Twitter, Digg, and now Buzz are some I use.
But if your question is about paying for an ad on these websites, I don't know if you will get any benefit out of it.
Somehow it help but that doesn't mean the you can have it in an instant. It help because you can using social networking sites for advertising.
social networking is nothing but having more friends or network. Thus if you have many friends there are more chances for your success in your business as obviously you will be supported by your friends and some of your friends even consider buying your products sometimes..so the more network you have the more powerful you will be...take my word for granted..![]()
yes..now a days social networking sites such as faceboook, twitter, myspace plays a vital role in generating business.. they do have lots of members who actively engaged with the sites and therefore if your campaign targeted in a right way , you can generate lot of business..
Yes ofcourse! Because social networking site have millions of users, it's easier to find a potential client there. Promotions in social networking site will really help in your sales.
"Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted."
It depends on your target audience and way you promote it. If you for instance choose to sell some product for old people, than your campaign will most likely fail, but if you are advertising some product for younger people, you just need to setup right strategy and your sales can increase quite well.
the answer is YES. social networking sites really help increase leads and sales of your product. i won't tell you anything.. if you have an facebook account just go to the page of "northface" products.. you can find it..lots of people has liked it, they are active in the north face page.. discussing about all their products and new adventure activities.. it really helps to let people know about your product.. and it definitely increase your sales.

Yes, they can give you huge traffic but not higher pr.
Social networking sites are good for building customer relationship. It is so easy to interact with people at social sites. You basically need to set up accounts at popular social sites, gather the customers of your product, provide useful information, and update the networks regularly. Customers will be pleased to join the community as they regard it as a place to share their your ideas and find best information about their purchase.

Social media sites can definitely drive sales and web traffic, but only if you are an active participant in your own networks. Social media has put marketing back in the hands of the market itself. Users are more savy and more likely to research your product, service and company when using social media advertising. You also have a potential to reach a seriously targeted market with greater ease, especially using facebook ads. This isnt the cannon ball marketing appraoch.
