Is launching a social networking site a profitable business?

If you launch social networking site just like facebook, in how much time do you expect it to make money?

Please give your opinion.

Uh, uh such a huge efforts and time to launch a project like this. You have to hire an expert one, developers, programmers, designers, and take time to plan and have some consultation. It is really a profitable business, much profitable if it goes viral.

So, you mean to say it's an expensive project?

If you look at how much money myspace, facebook, and other sites have made...I think it's a fair guess that it is profitable. However, it takes a lot of time and effort, and since there are so many big ones out there now, the barriers to entry are pretty high in terms of competition.

It is not a game to start a social networking site like Facebook and earn profits from it. It requires to input lot of efforts to create such a buzz website. You will need to think about new features or a way for individuals and businesses to promote their websites very easily, something unique that would leave such well-known sites behind forever.

Look, it doesn't exactly mean that making a project like this HAS to be expensive. You can do it ALL by yourself and invest absolutely nothing in it, to get the best out of it. However, that requires time, patience and consistency. Effort is needed for ideas on how you're going to make money from nothing, how you're going to code everything,design everything, etc, which despite popular belief, can actually happen. However, it WOULD be much better if you got developers, designers, programmers, etc to do it all for you instead. You tell them the ideas and they grow it for you.

it's not easy man. if you wanna go for big fish you have to have the right equipments right. not just that it's also very competitive area. It won't be easy to make people visit your site when people have options like facebook, twitter, Myspace and now Google plus. Even google having hard time. Are you talking about a social networking site like Facebook? Remember one thing that Facebook is a giant into the social networking site. Who earn huge amount of money. If you able to create a site like Facebook then you also will be able to earn like Facebook. DREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
