Thread: Need a logo for my site

My new web hosting site needs a logo.
So far, those submitting have used just the domain name with a off the shelf graphic.

If anyone can design a logo that does not use the domain name, with new graphics, etc,,,,,feel free to enter the contest here:

Can I just clarify; are you after a logo or a banner?

The entries by kdemonte that you say you like, aren't exactly logos. They're more like banners.

A logo should be something that represents your brand. Something that people can identify with you or your website. Here are a few definitions via Google;

• A recognizable graphic design element, representing an organization or product.
• A company, partnership or corporate creation (design) that denotes a unique entity. A possible combination of letters and art work to create a "sole" entity symbol of that specific unit.
• A mark or symbol created for an individual, company, or product that translates the impression of the body it is representing into a graphic image.

I think you get the idea

Although I have to agree the entries by kdemonte are very good, there isn't anything really unique about them. They just seem like advertising banners.

If this is what you're after, great. However perhaps you should rethink your requirements if it isn't. Some clarification here would be great.

I'm not going to waste my time brainstorming ideas, researching your website and then spending a few hours creating a fully scalable vector if all you are after if some catchy advertising banner. Certainly not for a contest anyway.

Kim did some nice works, but can't considered as 'logo'. It will came under 'banners'.

Well, neither of you were able to read the pm's I sent to Kim and others.
But yes, I did point out that these were basically banners and I was still looking for a unique logo.
So far, no one has created diddly that I can truly call a logo I would want.

If you do not want to enter the contest, no problem.

If no logo appears in the contest that I would want, then I will go forth and hunt down logo makers.

Exactly. Do you expect us to be mind readers? You need to make this important information clear in the original post. That's my point.

Where? In response to kdemonte posting his / her work you actually said "That is what I am looking for!" which indicates that you're after a banner and not a logo. It's this inconsistency that has confused me.

That's unfortunate but how is that relevant? I am simply asking you to clarify what it is you want so perhaps I could consider entering.

You seem to have taken this the wrong way. I am interested in entering the contest that is why I have posted asking you to clarify what it is that you require. The problem here is that what you have replied to the thread contradicts with what you have written in the original post.

I'm confused as to your requirements and asked for clarification. For some reason you have gone on the defensive. Why?

That comment, again, about what I was looking for was between me and Kim.
It was basically to get those people off the route they were taking.
