    You would just redirect the old domain to the new domain using .htaccess, I believe a 301 permanent redirect.

    Like this: Basic 301 Permanent Redirect

    This very forum does and did that, with the .net extension and a few other domains we merged into.

    For redirecting your pages,you can create a .html file(prefarably index.html so to call it the webserver) and add these lines:
    Code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    window.location = "http://www.newdomain.com"
    //-->
    </script>
    regards

    Javascript is bad for SEO, using the 301 Permanent Redirect is better, it lets the search engines know that the site has permanently moved and to update all related searches it has.

    Cyberbite added 0 Minutes and 36 Seconds later...

    Also, using any type of code to redirect (php, vbscript, etc) has the same negative SEO effect

    301 redirect is the only way, the best way, to do this.
    Anything else is murder for serp.

    Another thing to keep in mind, because I found this out earlier today, is when your domain has different page ranks.
    EG: http://www.yourdomain,com has pr6
    but http://yourdomain,com has pr2

    Use 301 to point the second to the first.
