Default issue with DNS - CNAME records

    Hello all,

I am new to this mailing list. My name is Sunil C.
I want to ask you all one doubt over CNAME record.

    i have a server (name : test01)
the FQDN of the server is : test01.nos.sun.co.yy

now how can i create a CNAME record for this hostname of my server . I mean i want to create a CNAME for this machine as follows.

    col01.xx.sun.com CNAME test01.nos.sun.co.yy

please see that the canonical name i want to give is "col01.xx.sun.com" (please see that the domain name has changed from co.yy to xx.sun.com )

can i change the domain name also when i create a CNAME for a host in one domain?

please help me create a CNAME record for my server "test01.nos.sun.co.yy" to "col01.xx.sun.com"

    Thanks in advance

    Regards
    Sunil C

Do you have access to some sort of web panel? I know you can edit/create CNAME records in WHM.

    Hi all,

We need not prepare the CNAME record. we just need to suggest to the team who is doing it.

so thats why i asked that question. i want to know whether its possible to create a CNAME record like that given above.

i just want to know whether its possible to create that CNAME record with a different domain name .

    Regards
    Sunil

Then why not contact your host and simply ask them? Only way to find out.
