I can understand why they'd want to shut it down, but still it's pretty surprising.

Go Daddy shuts down police-rating Web site

Domain hoster Go Daddy has shut down a Web site that lets people criticize individual police officers, saying it was using too much bandwidth. But the site owner says he is being censored after police complained.

Up until Tuesday, visitors to RateMyCop.com were able to post comments and ratings on specific police officers. The site disclosed officer names and badge numbers, which is public information.

Ha, GoDaddy's hosting is crappy enough, this censorship BS just makes me glad I don't use them.

Isn't this the 3rd or 4th time GD has suspending accounts for censorship reasons?

Looks like they found a new host anyway..

GoDaddy fucking sucks. People have freedom of speech, and most cops suck balls anyways.

I have an uncle who is a judge, a cousin who is hwy patrol, my grandfather's brother chief of police, another uncle who is a county supervisor, what a family tree.

What do I do? Mgr. a Lingerie store that sells a few adult toys. You would think I am the Black Sheep. But all of them will very much Support the First Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

You would think GD would understand that as well.

There are great police officers and there are bad ones. Just like any profession

Ironically, the very attempt to get rid of the site brought them publicity. Now they are even more known.

If I was actually in contact with the guy, shit, I'd host him for free.

I can see why it was shut down, but I highly doubt it was a site created by hardcore cop-haters. Probably just people who've had bad experiences with certain cops who want others to know about.

Goddady is useless and next to registerfly.com

Most web hosts have policies with discourage posting anything which is intended to harrass, threaten, defame, etc... and I've never had a problem with Godaddy for any
of my hosts.

Since I haven't seen this site I can't really comment too much on it.

GoDaddy is probably the worst place to go for hosting anyways. They are better off elsewhere.
