Which billing system would you recommend for reseller hosting? I already know about phpCoin and AccountLabPlus-can be free or paid

I would prefer something that only requires a one time buy

WHMCS is definitely the way to go and really makes the whole process of reselling so easy. They probably still do a 15 day trial, you should try it![]()

Yes, I was also told about ClientExec, both seem good with reasonable one-time buy prices (below 200) but I need to raise the cash first lol
I was wondering the same thing is there something much cheaper than WHMCS.
I think WHMCS is nice, I like it.
ModernBill or WHM Auitopilot, this is what is mostly used by reselling companies today, I mean by leaders in the industry Resellerpanel.com, Hostgator.com.
Actually WHMCS is pretty good...but for the best you have to go with Modernbill, its surely better
I use WHMCS my self but the true is that Modernbill is a lot better.
Surely there is no one to match WHMcs for features and simplicity. But i has also heard of ipanel to be also good.

ModernBill is probably the most popular and best.

i use whmcs or like they also mentioned modernbill
WHM autopilot is total crap. I used it from the free oferring from hostgator and, really there are a lot of bugs, issues with ordering etc... that make it quite time consuming.
I just switched to WHMCS (hostgator offers it free now with their reseller plans) and it is like a breath of fresh air compared to WHMAP! lots of features. There are still some things i would like to see that the AP did have, but it is a LOT better.

yeah I use whmcs too. Its awesome!
WHMCS by a long shot...
Right now I am using both Ipanel and Modernbill for my separate hosting companies. They definitely get the job done but it can be a real pain switching between billing system, whm, ssh, etc. MB is good though...and they have frequent updates so thats what I suggest out of the two.
WHMCS is the best according to me!! And its very user-friendly!
We use WHMCS and it works great!
cPanel Hosting | cPanel Reseller Hosting - Free WHMCS License
Hosting Affiliate Program - Earn $200 per signup
My list: ModernBill >WHMCS > iPanel
Modernbill has fallen out of favor since v5 due to the fact that they don't listen to their clients (web hosts) and they have produced such a convoluted system that is slow and difficult to learn and use.
We use WHMCS and it is absolutely wonderful. If you are just starting a web host I would suggest you find a host that will give you a WHMCS license for free with your reseller plan (they are out there, HostGator.com is one) that way you can make a minimal initial investment in case you decide that hosting is not for you.
I work closely with our resellers and there have been more than a few that have been resellers for 4~8 months and then simply decided that they did not have the time to do it or they did not want to put the work/time/effort into it that it requires to run a web host.
It may seem as simple as throwing up an automated billing system and sitting back and watch the money roll in but it is really quite a lot of work to build, maintain, and support a web hosting company.
If you have the real desire and drive to create a web hosting company, I would still advise to find a reseller that offers a free WHMCS license so that you can keep your initial investment low and once you begin turning a profit you can use that profit to buy your very own owned and unbranded license.
I do wish you the best of luck in all of your endeavors!

ModernBill does a lot of automation and is more comprehensive than PHPCoin. On the down side it takes a lot of setting up, costs about $25/month and support is hard to obtain. It was recently purchased by Parallels (the makers of Plesk). They only give free tech support for 30 days, then they start charging extra.
Vectro Web Hosting - Web hosting with solid tech support.
x Proxy Host - Affordable PHP proxy hosting with proxy-specific features.
WHMCS is the best one and easiest to configure to WHM that makes it automatic in my personal opinion. I don't like modernbill, it looks so...boring. As far as ipanel, eh its not my taste but I do like that it has that free hosting feature to add ads as WHMCS doesn't have that.
Whmcs all the way!

I agree - I love WHMCS. Its so easy to use and user friendly.

I prefer ClientExec, but WHMCS is good too.
Here's a suggestion - don't buy the Owned license, it work's out more expensive after a few years (paying for upgrades, etc).

I just finished installing and configuring WHMCS with my server and it was so easy to setup and get working. I have used ModernBill before but so far WHMCS wins hands down.

I do not believe so, here is the math...
Owned: $249.95 for the first year (more expensive first year owned)
Leased: $191.40 for the first year (so the first year is cheaper leased)
Owned: $44.95 for the second year (substantially cheaper second year owned)
Leased: $191.40 for the second year (second year of leasing costs more than renewing owned support) a difference of $146.45 and if you take out the extra cost from the first year of an owned license of $58.55 you end up *SAVING* $87.90 by the end of the second year.
At the end of the third year you will have saved $234.35 and the end of the fourth year you have saved $380.80 over leasing the license the entire time.
These figures are based upon a branded copy of WHMCS, the numbers are bigger for WHMCS Unbranded so it works out about the same.

I would go with ClientExec, affordable and easy in use
I still think Modernbill is more professional than WHMCS, although support from MB can be difficult to obtain. Once you get it running however it's a very robust software, we've been running v4 for the past 4+ years and I have yet to find a better alternative.

Modernbill is expensive
