Why not going with the Open Source one? Crafty Syntax .
It works very well for me.
if you want a paid one i would recommend www.kayako.com
We have our own script for live support which is working fine. We have not used any other one apart from that, so I can not recommend any one for now. I wish you good luck.
You could also think the possibility of not having a livechat and just have 24/7 Support Staff to answer all your tickets.
I think that would be better, though in case you want a Support Script kayako is the best out there. (At least so far...)

I want live support.
If you are having live support, be sure there is someone around to respond when it is on. People tend to get very irate if they are left hanging in cyberspace needlessly![]()

As for php, I highly recommend: PHP Live! Support [ Live Help Live Support Live Chat Software ]

To my knowledge Kayako Support is most leading among the chat systems, but it is too costly compared to others.
Kayako and crafty syntax work well.
We use I-Dialogue live support chat and have no problems with it. I'm one of those who are responsible for communication with clients via that chat. You can try and speak to me online)))))))
I am using crafty syntax but the problem with it is it does not have a program that loads up on your desktop to indicate there is someone online. This is the major problem with it, you have to always log-in to the website to get the chat up.
i've used clickchatsold.com in the past and it was pretty good and has the application ofr running on your computer, and for monthly costs is much cheaper than kayako, yearly is more expensive though. They have a free trial as well.
You have to make sure if you really need live support for your site. If you are just starting up it is something you would want to put up for later

There are one or two free options available within Fantastico in cPanel.

Check out Stardevelop:
Live Help - Screenshots - Live Customer Service Software, Live Help, Customer Support
It's pretty cheap (one time payment) and looks fabulous. They are also going to be adding a VOIP feature so you can speak to your clients via your microphone.
Or checkout their hosted service: http://livehelp.stardevelop.com/hosted/
Costs $20 /month for their smallest one.
yes, I will also recommend stardevelop, it is great!
We use Provide Support providesupport.com
It is a per operator charge, but is held off site, so even if your site is down, customers can still get you on a secure chat![]()

I highly recommend this one SourceForge.net: Help Center Live
It's free and it's better than all of those paid one, really simple to use and clean interface.
You can setup your own offline and online images, so it's pretty cool and it's my favorite one.
I use kayako myself and they are great. Yeah it may be a little pricey, but I have noticed more sales from customers when I am online. People have questions that your website just can't answer and the customers need that information or they leave.
You could also go to licensepal dot com and get it at a cheaper rate.
We use Provide Support (htt://providesupport.com/) Their support chat software is second to none, Offers Referral Tracking, World Map of Clients and where they are from and even a country flag to represent that.
Shows what page they are currently on gives how long they have been on that page, Best you can send a call to them
I think it is really second to none and you'd be insane to not use them![]()
