It depends on how you market your company. If everything is ok for your company it can including client support, it will sure be profitful.

Is it possible to make money in Hosting?
Yes and no. I think if your going to embark on a hosting company you really need to look at your competitors and what they are doing. Or more to the point, what they are NOT doing.
You need to differentiate yourself between companies, offer something they don't, give something they don't. The key is something better.
Many people go wrong and think "I'll offer REALLY cheap hosting, that will increase my customer base" when in fact, it doesn't at all.
Quality is key, support and reliability are key. Placing a big emphasis on customer focus is key.
Look into the future, not what is just going on now and unless your shit hot at SEO don't be silly to try and target "Hosting" because it will not work.
Research first.
Don't waste your time offering hosting in forums because there are a bazillion others doing the same.

absolutely but you have to find your niche. You are not going to complete with the big oversellers so you have to have an angle. Starting local is a good idea, lots of people prefer to host with a local company. If you provider good support and know your stuff when people ask you questions then you will start to get word of mouth referrals once you have a critical mass.
I have tried to set up a hosting accoutn before but i found it is alot of work and it has huge start up fees![]()
Hey tjsocr1:
It is a lot of work, but on the fees part, as little as $10 a month, can start you with a small reseller account, that will allow you to at least get a few domains hosted, so you can at least test the waters!!
Yes you can definitely make money in web hosting, but it is all about dedication and (niche) marketing
It is definitely possible. But you need to have the knowledge, drive, patience and money to make it happen.
Dont think the big money is in the hosting bussiness..
OF course its possible. Just need to be determined to do it.

My opinion?
Probably not. Theres SOOO many resellers out there that one offers the same thing as the other....even if it dirt cheap...a lot of people just use godaddy/hostgator/etc...
imo of course...

Got to remember, there are hundreds and thousands of new domains needing hosting every single day.
Most by people who have never hosted or have any knowledge of hosting.
That is where the market is, the newbies.

They see the "$1 hosting!" they jump on it

But we are talking about profit, so $1 is not very much at all for letting them use your resources...

Not really.
Think like a newbie, like you were 23.89234 hours ago.
And who said a $1.00 per month is not profitable?
Are you saying now that free hosting is not profitable?
I offer hosting say at 20 bucks a year.
Am I making money?
Damn straight!

I guess any profit is some profit...better than nothing I suppose..
Many do make an income from hosting so yes it is possible!

Ever wonder why people who do not sell hosting, like to run it down?
yes but it depends on how you manage your company.
