Thread: Yay my new proxy hosting owns

I bought proxy hosting off TechEntrance.com, it allows unlimited addon domains for $7.95/mo and thats a good price.

Also it has AWSTATS AND it has stats for each addon domain, finally what I was looking for but never noticed this had until now ! This is rare because usually it only has stats for the primary domain.

The hosting is going good so far.

How long have you been hosted with them now? If it is just a couple of days, any kind of review is useless. You should write a review after a month, then again after six months.

A few days is not enough time to make an opinion.

Yeah I know a review after that would be better, i just wanted to say about the awstats

Yes but on my previous it didnt show stats for each addon domain individually

awstats comes with any installed whm/cpanel so its nothing major.

plug google analytics would be best.

i know the guy who owns this hosting and wish you luck. I remember when he first got into proxies lol ooooohhh way back in the day.

Who owns it?

His uname is thewird mostly active on proxy.org forum and rarely on DP!

He from what I know is only part owner, there are 2 of them

Thewird had his own vps service, still has it I believe. I had a vps from him.

Him and I believe user name 'tech-entrance or something similar' from DP merged into one business 'last I heard'

awstats does not come with all hosting. I have cpanel hosting and had to specifically ask them to turn it on, they did, but told me it was off as it slowed their servers down, so they're keeping an eye on it. First I heard of it.

AWSTATS does come by default in WHM/Cpanel setups. The admin however can turn it off.

AWSTATS is pretty hard on the server, compiling the stats. Especially on servers that don't have much power, or that are over sold.

My one server is a p4 3.0 HT with a gig of ram. It is awfully slow compiling stats, even on a single site. This server is no where near oversold, well I'm the only one who uses it

My other servers have dual cpu's, XEONS and AWSTATS compiles much, much faster. During peak periods though it can still cause a strain on the server, especially with sites that have lots of logs/hits to compile.

Unless I really want to see the current visitors, I leave awstats alone as it is updated each day at the same time.

Sorry but what's the point with having 500 domain names for one single site? :/

Something to keep in mind about adding all those domains you want.
For $7.95 per month, you get 1gb of storage.
25gb of bandwidth.

And the above is and will be spread out over all domains you put there!
And from what I found out, 25gb is not much for one good proxy, much less a handful of them.

No you will not need much storage for a proxy, bandwidth is what can kill you.

Grim is right 25Gb is peanuts for proxy....
I am also using same plan for last 3 months most of the time I am near to 25gig mark thanks to alternative hosting account.

Also Techentrance.com initially was a partnership however now it's completely owned by wird.

The thing about running a proxy is even if he did reach the limit and needed to move. The actual proxy files are like what? 20MB? It wouldn't really be too much of a hassle to move.

I do agree though, 25GB really is not enough.

Who need to move everytime ..... I have domain and files on both the hosting ...... on receiving 90% bandwidth mail I just change the nameserver ... and it's done

What's the sense in paying seperatly for two hosting accounts? When you could just put the extra money towards a plan with more BW?

I have seen those free proxy hostings offers come and go.
Even if they want a banner or other advertising on your proxy, the bandwidth is such that they either shut your proxy down, ask for bucks to continue, or they themselves just close up shop.

It will! If you want quality hosting you have to pay for it. I don't mind sometimes running my sites at a loss if it means my sites are actually up.

Havent you already had an image host that lost all its images? The idea of providing image hosting is to be fast and reliable. I doubt you will manage that from free hosting.

Are you prepared for the bandwidth image sites tend to take up? Even though mine is still pretty new sometimes I get up to 3GB a day.

He puts his ads on proxified pages to pay the hosting bill and probably earn also some profit also.

I am using his service for one of my proxy Study Guy. Working perfectly from day of launch ...... However I can't access it myself, he has recently blocked my country also LOL

Yes you are a little weird. That is not why the two hosting packages have been suggested. It was sussgested so they could alternate between when running low on BW. That is why it makes no sense...

Yes I have heard of the term. Personanally if disaster struck I could have my sites back in an hour or so. I take regular backups to three seperate locations (one being my pc and two being paid backup services)

Not even for 'disaster' simply a server is down, all your sites are down, no money coming in.

Split up, at least 1/2 your sites remains. Could also be some can not access one server, but can another, etc.

I could run all my sites on one of my servers, instead I run 3 dedicated servers and a hosting plan to boot. All in different data centers.

Costs me more, but I make more as I don't have all my sites going down, etc.

I was against the original idea. I am not saying keeping redundant servers is a bad idea. It makes complete sense, especially with pages that do not update so frequently as you could use reduntant nameservers and the switch could be seamless after the first ones failed.

My opinion still is that same. What is the point in buying two hosting plans just to switch between when you are running low on BW, when you could just have one with a greater capability.

$5.99 month with 100gb of bandwidth.

Going to have a proxy site up later today, maybe tomorrow.
