Question Yahoo Hosting + htaccess? *gulp*

    Howdy Guys,

I'm working on a project with a buddy of mine he's got Yahoo for a host. Long story short we're using Wordpress to power the site but I cannot get URL rewriting to work. I searched Yahoo's support from what I read they don't allow uploading of .htaccess files http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/sma...ossary-08.html which other than that rule being plain dumb this is what I'm dealing with.

Outside of getting a new host which I'm pretty sure is out of the question is there anyway to overcome something like this? All in all it's no big deal but I like keyword heavy URLs no matter what Google says they do appear to help with rankings.

    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

Its a time to move your hosting account from yahoo today most host allows you to access .htaccess which is a must for any webmaster. .htaccess file is very important for security purposes.

Yahoo is more for the new person to hosting that doesn't really know what they're doing or how to do it... And what I mean is - Joe Blow has a small machine shop and he wants to put a page up that says "Joe's Machine Shop" with his address, phone number, etc... and not much else.

It's not really business/enterprise hosting like they make it out to be and I've found that it's often lacking features (such as .htaccess).

I would advise you find a new host and avoid the "Top 10 Web hosts" or hosts offering "Unlimited" disk space or transfer as the former are just lists of the highest paying affiliate programs and the latter are unrealistic plans.

    Best of luck.

Very True..... If you are serious about your website and webhosting then you should search for a new webhost as Yahoo hosting packages are not reliable and can never expect quality support from them.
I will advice you to post your hosting requirements at WHT or at digitalpoint or other webhosting forums where you can get few honest recommendations.
