Thread: Unlimited Bandwidth Host Needed

Looking for an unlimited bandwidth host (or lots of bandwith say 500gig per month as a start) for my site, happy to paid some $$, also unlimited or huge space avaialble (again say 20gig).

anyone have any ideas? something under say $8 per month..

Hostgator and many others have unlimited bandwidth plans starting at $4.95

But I would be very wary of any hosts offering unlimited plans. You would be terminated well before you pose a significant drain on their resources.

is hostgator any good?

according to their TOS my site would not be suitabe (image hosting script)

Examples of unacceptable material:

a few hundred gig for storage would be good.

Even if you go with a host that gives you 1,000 of bandwidth GB you should still be skeptical. There is really no such thing as that much for a low price. Hosts that offer that much are usually overselling and banking on their customers not even using a small fraction of their allocation. If you read the fine print in the TOS it probably even says they can cancel your account at any time for any reason. If I were you i would find a reputable host who offers a realistic but useful amount of bandwidth.

Hostgator is a perfect option for you. go for it.

What kind of site are you looking to host?

its an image hosting / upload site like rapid share or photobucket...

and its against host gator TOS...

I don't know of any shared hosting plan for an upload site like that. Consider increasing your budget and getting a private server

Unlimited does not exist, do you ever have unlimited space hard disk in your computer?

Unlimited does not exist. Every server has a limit, just like a computer. When you are looking for a host, be sure to read the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy carefully.

For image hosting, you will more than likely need your own dedicated server with a server company whom allows it because 95% of hosting companies do not allow this on their shared accounts.

Hostgator Baby plan is $9.95 a month with unlimited bandwidth. And they are one of the best shared web hosts out there.

But what you need to understand is "In shared web hosting environment (or any web hosting plan) Unlimited Bandwidth is impossible". By the time you are using some good amount of bandwidth you are already crossing your CPU resources limits and would be asked to upgrade to a VPS or Dedicated server.

Companies have a resource limit of like 20%, sometimes even less so thats why I said read their terms of service and Acceptable Use Policy as they will suspend and/or terminate your account without notice.

Since there are so many option here. I would suggest you go for the hosting company that have the server in your website targeted country so that the visitors can access your website with faster speed.

So what company did you have chosen? And why?

When we were hosted with Hostgator, we had a bad experience as far has having to put in a support ticket for everything instead of having issues answered via live chat but when we expressed ourself - the owner Brent Oxley actually listened & gave us free hosting for the trouble. He is by far the most professional business person I know & give him big props for actually caring about clients and not $$$. if you look closely at TOS most hosts dont allow image hosting sites.

Hostgator is a good provider. I have a dedicated and a shared ( reseller ).
i had no big troubles.
Ok ok they dont solve everything by live chat but i can understand that.
But if you need advice ask directly the hoster.. i did the same thing when i opened a adult site. I asked first hostgator if it whas ok with them.
They are very professionals.
Servage is also not bad but if you have a site using a massive sql it dont would be a good choice.

Godaddy has an unlimited feature. Unlimited storage and bandwidth, but certain restrictions do apply, so its not really unlimited? It seemed to be like 15-20/mo?

Servers, Hard Drives, and Networks *all* have hard-limitations - there is no such thing as *unlimited* - personally I advise you stay away from unlimited and go with a plan that will fit your actual planned current needs and allow for some growth because then at least you know what the limits are.

If you are on an "unlimited" plan there are limits - you just can't see them and you won't know what they are until you cross the "invisible line."

Well said - this is absolutely correct!

The invisible line is typically the resource usage, if you hog the resources - you'll more than likely be suspended ... some even will terminate your account. Please read the nice little Terms and Conditions & of course their Acceptable Use Policy for those specific details

If it isn't in those areas, then be sure to ask multiple times to multiple people just to make sure you get the correct/same answer. If anything, talk to someone higher like a manager or even better would be the owner

You never get unlimited bandwidth it just for advertising.... they just asume you wont overcome the server..
