Default Web hosts that cant admin their own servers!

This kills me. I've had it happen working with clients on their site and I call up their hosting provider to ask a technical question or get something enabled and they have no idea what I am talking about. For example I called register.com about editing php.ini files and I had to talk to 4 tech people before I got someone who even knew what that was! Whats with these people?

I know exactly what you mean. I host sites with different php.ini files on the same server. This is mainly for resource management.

    Hi,
Its not always the same. If you go for Shared Web Hosting, you may not get the features you like. In that case a managed VPS/Dedicated server is recommended

What I honestly think is worse is Invasi.com's horrible downtime and my awstats haven't loaded right for the past 2 weeks. I had to install some crappy addfreestats thing to my site just to see how many unique visitors I get a day, and I'm pretty sure that doesn't work up to par either, because on this new thing, I get way less u/v a day than awstats says. Lol, I just hate unreliable hosts.

This is a good indication that they are overselling and the CPU on the server that hosts your site is overloaded. AWStats needs a good amount of CPU to process the web server's log files and convert them to graphical stats. When a CPU is backed up, AWStats gets backed up as well. It can even get days or weeks behind in processing the log files.

That can be true in some cases, but in others it is possible to give a certain site it's own php.ini file, even on shared hosting.
