Default Godaddy delux account : upgrade from IIS6 to IIS7

I use godaddy hosting for my websites . I want to upgrade to IIS7 to use some features like PHP support . Has any one tried this ? Does it work correctly ? they say it causes 10 minutes of downtimes. My site is using DNN.

After submitting the request for IIS upgrade to 7 . after about 18 hours I received a mail about successful migration.

I checked my website in the morning .. It was down ...

Then as instructed in earlier mail I changed SQL server DB connection string.
Then my site again became available .

Only sad thing I experienced is my site was down for about six hours as migration happend in my night time.

Overall every thing went well with no data loss ..Now I can try many application on godaddy hosting connection.

Interesting to hear your experiences with the upgrade.

You did know that IIS6 and PHP can run together happily? IIS7 does have some nice XML configuration features though so there may be an incentive to move.

I guess we'll all have to move over to IIS7 on the servers at some point but for the time being, I think I'll keep my sites running as they are.

Well even with the unexpected downtime due to a different connection string - I think they still did a good job. Maybe perhaps they could have updated the connection string for you which would have made it nearly seamless?
