You can simply generate a backup for your accounts at old hosting and get them uploaded in the account at new host. Then you can ask support tech at new host to restore your accounts there. So that you will get your accounts transferred successfully at new hosting provider.
Hi Steve01.
If both hosts are on cPanel and your account with old host still active then the best way should be to ask your new host to transfer the whole account from the old server (cPanel <-> cPanel transfer is fast and easy). Then not only files but databases, e-mail accounts, settings, etc. will be transferred.
there are some hosting companies that have a special service for that
hostgator for example, all you need is just fill out a form. and they will do the transfer for you for free.
you should ask your new hosting company first
but if not, your first step should be to backup all your files and databases and extract it to the new hosting, do not say first to the old hosting that you want to move, you first must have the same data in two two-hosting.
then after that, you just update your domain dns to be dns servers new hosting, then it's done!
This way your website do not necessarily have to be down
I personally think that if you have it R1Soft is the easiest and most efficient way to generate a backup and swap it over. Also, if you change hosts, most hosts will offer to get your backup, and transfer it to there servers.
Good luck!
if it is a site, then you should have a local copy of your site. simply upload the local files to the new server. if it is a blog, then you will need to backup the database and import that later on the new server. or you can use transfer services/features that is offered by the host
I have tried this once only and managed to lose everything! :fine:
Download a backup of all your files using ftp, and reupload them and then restore the databases using phpmyadmin. If both your providers are using cPanel, you can generate full backup and provide it to your web host to restore.

Back up your file via CPanel and simply upload the derived file to your new host and extract it all.
If you are new to this and have NO idea what I said said, you should really ask your host for help. I had the same issues when starting out but when I switched to myhosting.com, their customer reps helped me easily.
The transfer from the control pane to control panel is easier task.
cPanel to cPanel remains the easiest. Therefore it is advisable to have second thoughts before using hosts with proprietary conrol panels as you might end up with your data a compelte mess when you want to transfer your accounts.
thanks alot for the tips, guys .. appreciate it

No problem. I assumed the trick worked flawlessly?

Also, Cpanel automatically zips it up for you and all you do is extract it once you transfer the ZIP onto the new server.
Got the tip from myhosting.com on their forums and it saves me so much more time now that I don't have to download every single file and then upload via FTP. (It was a major pain I tell ya)
Goood tips and advice from the replies. I was wondering how to do this. I am thinking about moving everything from bluevoda over to homestead.

Was going to ask the same. If they don't the moving process is going to be a disaster and a huge debacle!
I am going to go out on a limb and say CPanel should be exclusively used by any host who wants to remain competitive. My host uses CPanel and I have installed it on my VPS server.
I won't pay for hosting without CPanel. The folks over at my host's forum will say the same.
