Thread: Good web host provider..

What i am try to do is to get some good webhost which can manage big load.
I need advise of experienced people with hosting
For a site where people can register them self for example 3,000 users logging in at same time in 1 hour.
Does a VPS 1 gb ram can handle it or i will have to use dedicated server from host1plus.com ?

Well, its hard to find web hosting sites that could do that.. There might be some available, but i dont know any.. I'd rather use dedicated server,that way im really sure of the service..

I think that you should be very picky about what you use. Make sure that they can offer you the right features.

3,000 users per hour may not be that much. But if 3,000 users browsing your site at the same time during an hour - that makes far more connections to database. You need a dedicated server with an possibility to easily upgrade your plan and add up more memory, disk space etс quickly. and be rather picky indeed. It also depends on your site features, add ons etc that users can use besides logging.
I think you should contact hosting sales guys to get info. BTW you'll learn about their support then

It also depends on what those 3000 users are doing when they land on your site... if they just come and take a look at something and then go away, it's not such a big deal but if they actually try to do something, you need not just features and a powerful server, but hosting site with a big pipe into it, so that you don't end up with a bottleneck you can do nothing about. Also, make sure that your site design can handle that kind of volume without slowing down.

3000 visitors would require at least 2GB+ Ram, I personally would recommend 4GB. Yes, it is out of the scale of a VPS you would have to get a dedicated server.

Well, i use godaddy for my site.. heard of it.? i think you should find a hosting much more better than this i use..

I think that Cloud hosting is a good alternative to VPS. You save on software licenses and on VPS management. Try to find any cloud hosting service at reasonable price.

You can also look for semi-dedicated plans. VPS with 1gb memory would really bottleneck your performance.

I personally suggest VPS or a semi-dedicated package.

I am kind of in the same situation as you but I am still sticking with my VPS package from myhosting.com

I will only switch to a dedicated source once I really really reach the threshold to.

a good vps can do the job but i think you would be better of with a dedicated server

Haha, any host is better than GoDaddy. They just don't have the up times that myhosting.com or even BlueHost have.

You'll have to get you atleast a vps for that sort of thing

And also to the OP,

1GB of RAM should be sufficient for any tasks with VPS. I have 1GB RAM on myhosting.com package and I haven't ran into issues.

That said, 1GB is the industry standard. I wouldn't go any lower.

I would suggest you planetonline.net. They have done great job for me.
Just go for it.

Hi agraj, one thing you didn't mention here was your working budget for such a project and such things as control panel requirements and level of support you require (i.e fully managed service semi or un-managed)


These are often a huge impact on the quality of hardware you can buy and what you would be expecting to shell out.

Do a search on cloud hosts, and I'm sure you will avoid these.

A VPS should do, just don't skimp on the RAM.

A dedicated server wouldn't hurt either.

Have you considered expanding your choices outside of host1plus.com?

I have used them and I think they are overhyped. They have lots of talk but when it comes down to providing a service, I think they are very mediocre. There are cheaper options that provide better customer service and more features.

Don't you find Host Gator overpriced? I compared them to a lot of hosts and they are by far the most expensive even when it comes to domains.
By going with my current host, I save over $75 a month on the VPS costs alone. The number jumps to $100 if you include domain registrations.

You might need a vps or a dedicated server for this. Shared hosting may get your website suspended.

I use Hostica and find them cheap and also very good in terms of customer care.

I have been with them for many years and I have never had any problems. Great service, great support and most of all free

I am currently using Ipage hosting, and I think that it is offering quite a good service. At first I had some problems but know they are more stable.

I would suggest you wiredtree.com for vps hosting - up time is great and support is top notch (tickets under 15 minutes) or hostgator and sharkspace for shared

For me, I will go for hostgator and bluehost. Either of the two will do

I have read in the past that Hostgator is a great hosting company that can accommodate websites that have large amount of traffic. But I suggest that you call the company and talk to the sales representatives on the phone to make sure that the host company can handle the amount of traffic your website is attracting and not get penalize for it if your traffic drastically increase in the future.
