    Default Software script installers

Which script installer do you prefer? Fantastico, Installatron, Softaculous? Any other? And why?

Fantastico by a long shot. It is just so easy to use it and it has all of the scripts you'd really want.

My host (myhosting.com) has both Fantastico and Installatron and after using both, I just prefer Fantastico. It is the industry leader in my opinion.

IMHO, Fantastico is trash. It takes them forever to update scripts when there is a patch. We got rid of Fantastico in early 2009. Since them we have been using Installatron. The GUI is a lot more user friendly but it does not install as many scripts as Softaculous. Installatron & Softaculous get my vote. Both are great products, it would depend on your target audience.

It really all comes down to preference and the host you have. My host offers a variety and I chose a favorite.

In the end, these script installers really install the same "core" scripts like WordPress or Forum scripts.

I prefer Fantasico since I've been using it for a few years. It works and it's much faster than installing scripts manually. For example, if Fantastico is available, why install WP manually? I do wish they updated the scripts a little faster.

I don't know about the other ones but Fantastico also sets up the MYSQL databases and etc for you. It just makes life so much easier.

You can literally make a blog or a CMS site within 30 seconds. I first learned about it when I switched to my host because my older hosts don't have the luxury of having it.
