    Default GoDaddy Cloud Hosting

I recently had to go to a dedicated server because my VPS account was voilating my NumProc (number processes) maximum. I like my hosting service but it's been necessary to upgrade my hosting service fairly often as my sites have grown.

In talking with GoDaddy, where I buy my domains, the tech support guy explained their Grid technology where your site is mirrored across different machine and then the data center simply passes the call to a different machine if the primary is busy.

In this way, he assured me that even with two sites that serve approximately a million pages a month that I would be happy with GoDaddy on any shared hosting account that would accomodate my disk space and monthly bandwidth requirements.

That sounds real good to me considering the expense of the dedicated server, but I wanted to post first before making any moves and see if anyone with a high traffic site or sites has actually put these claims to the test.

Do you think GoDaddy can live up to these claims?

You might ask them about what kind of limitations they might have with their grid hosting. I know of another company that pushes grid hosting. The numbers they talk about sound good, but they limit a number of things that make it nearly impossible to use what they state. You never know though. Have you also checked with other vps providers. Maybe other vps providers allow more cpu usage. I know some have more limitations than others. I have been testing one recently that allows a lot, although they would probably complain if I really did use as much as they allow. Not sure what you pay for vps, but there are some entry level dedicated servers that can blow away a vps. Anyway I would also be curious to hear about any experiences with Godaddy's Grid hosting.

Yes, I'll definitely post more as I learn more.

Actually, I'm on the dedicated server already to the tune of $150 a month.

Regarding CPU usage and other limitations, I was very specific with three GoDaddy reps on these issues. I told them my history of buying more and more expensive plans where I am, only to discover some hidden maximum limit, on something or another, and being told that my site was using "too many resources".

All three of them assured me that this will not happen with GoDaddy because of the grid paradigm. Of course, at GoDaddy even technical support reps are salesmen on commission, so who knows?

As you say, I believe the dedicated server should do the job now, but if the grid technology is as good as they say, automatically load balancing among multiple servers that all have a mirror of your site, it could work that way.

My thinking right now is to go ahead and load the sites up on GoDaddy under a test domain name, switch to the real domain name, point the nameservers to them, and give it a shot, while keeping the dedicated server in reserve in case there are the kind of nasty little surprises that you allude to in your post. I can always switch back. If it works a month or two, then kill the dedicated server...

I will post back when I see how it goes.

I offer hosting, but I am sure I am not big enough for you, I would like to suggest that you check out cloudweb.com hosting first. They do true cloud hosting and I think you could get taken care of above and beyond for the amount you are paying now, perhaps even less. Jason is the guy you would want to talk to and is extremely honest and knows his stuff.

Thanks for the tip. I will check them out.

Regarding GoDaddy, fortune was with me, because when I called to finalize things I got a very good tech rep who told me they also have a NumProc maximum, and, when it's exceeded, you get shut down and pushed to a VPS or dedicated server. The first three guys were more salesmen, I guess, than real tech support reps.

Not going through all that again...

I will get around to talking to the cloud hosting company you suggested eventually, though, I'm sure. Will post back then.

    Thanks to all.

Yes, cloud hosting is getting very much popular nowadays, due its scalability and reliability it offers. Clients data is spreaded across the cluster, where you are provided with greater processing power coming from the servers throughout the cluster. You might want to take a look at our cloud server hosting plans.

As of now, cloud hosting is better and it runs smoothly with godaddy. Though you might read bad reviews about go daddy but I am sure all in all, things with godaddy are getting better. Even other host like hostgator, bluehost, hostmonster and many more are also better host with some bad reviews. But for me, checking each of them and knowing their features and considering the prices, you would know whats best for you

With cloud hosting you say goodbye to the old idea of renting a server or shared server space. In its place, cloud hosting provides us with server clustering. Instead of using the power of one server, you have access to the power of many; linked together through visualization.

The most important thing to remember is that hardware is no longer your main focus with cloud hosting. You new main focus is your web site. Cloud hosting is easy to scale to meet your demand. Cloud hosting provides computing power when you need it. Cloud hosting only requires you to pay for what you use.

And I believe that godaddy, bluehost, dreamhost and many more can meet with all the standards specified.
