Hey Guys Any one tell me what is dedicated server

Dedicated Server is a web server which are specifically used by mission-critical, high traffic and to host resource intensive applications. It is a very specialized solution and due to its high cost most of the large organizations opt for such solutions. Also, it offers more advantages over other hosting solutions such as you get more diskspace, bandwidth, don't have to share resources with other websites, high performance, stability, ability to upgrade resources anytime you need, root access to the server, ability to install third party applications and softwares and most importantly you get 100% uptime guarantee.

It is a server with all of its resources pooled and dedicated to only one user or company. It is surely fast and strong but it is incredibly expensive now a days still. VPS is the main option people are turning to in order to cut costs. It virtualizes the server allowing for lower maintenance costs too.

Dedicated server and Virtual Private Server offers the same features and functionality, the only thing that differs them is the uptime guarantee. On dedicated server definitely you will get 100% network uptime compare to the VPS.

Exactly but today VPS are very well managed in which there is barely any downtime at all. VPS is almost as always as reliable as a dedicated server with lowered costs.

dedicated server refers to the rental and exclusive use of a computer that includes a Web server, related software, and connection to the Internet, housed in the Web hosting company's premises.

According to me a dedicated server is a server to which you are the only one that has access to the files, and you control the contents of the entire server. You are not sharing space with anyone else, nor can anyone else get to your data.

Yes, I do agree that VPS is a well managed solution, though it has allocated resources but the VPS created on a single node still shares the same CPU power, which affects other servers on the same node. But, in dedicated server hosting all the resources including CPU is putted at the disposal of a single customer which helps them to run their websites without any performance issues. This is one of the main reasons why people prefer dedicated servers over the Virtual private servers though they are costly.

I get your point of course. But a lot of people automatically assume they need a dedicated server when it is not even close to necessary. Save the bucks and go VPS which will suffice for a LONG time.

Dedicated server is the server where the items which are being shared on the internet by different clients cannot be seen by anyone which means that they can’t be viewed by each and every person. The server on which the work is being carried out is being done by the client server on its own.

What I am taking about is for people having mission-critical websites. Such people can't rely on VPS and must get a dedicated server. But, for small busnesses a VPS would be good if they are limited on budget.

Yes definitely. If a person needs a dedicated server there is no other option. Of course some people think they need one when they in reality don't. That is the issue.

Oh yes absolutely. There are many instances where people would usually ask for a dedicated server for their website which actually don't need one. It is usually after they approach a couple of hosting providers who in an effort to make a larger sale tend to try and convince people with buying a dedicated server. Therefore it is utmost important to do enough research before signing up with a hosting company.

For sure. Cloud hosting will eliminate any power issues almost instantly but it comes at a cost which I feel some people won't want to pay or cannot afford.
