Thread: Reseller hosting problem!

I got a reseller hosting recently, I created a new account to host a domain with 100MB space but seems like its not working. I put the DNS the same as the main domain for which I've the reseller account!

Like domain.com is the domain for which the reseller is up! I can access it with domain.com:2086 or 2087 for secure, the dns for it is ns3.somesite.com and ns4.somesite.com i checked that the apache is installed there. Now, I created a new package of 100MB. Now I created a new account for a domain anothersite.com and gave the same DNS ns3.somesite.com and ns4.somesite.com but it isn't working!

I tried to call the support team but no response still!

Assuming you're on a WHM/cPanel host: Have you bound the IPs to the nameservers through the DNS manager in WHM?





After that you have to go to your registar and add the IPs along with the subdomains (ns1 & ns2 presumably). The binding process differs depending on your registar.

Aside from that, I don't know.. DNS & IP stuff isn't my strong suit. Hope you get it worked out.

How long has it been? Could be simple propogation issues. Did you try using a proxy to see if it loads that way?

Yes, usually it is propagation time involved.
Some registrars, it can take the full 72 hours and then some.

Well it's already more than 72 hours...i got it on 1st august...

Which registrar...reseller or domain???

Why don't you post the domain so others here can check to see if it loads for them? There are also tools to check DNS info on the web

Indian Fan Club - vIndianz is the one for which i got reseller. and www.11re.com is the one i created the 100MB account!

One more thing I could access to it by http://IPaddress/~recom

May be a dumb question, but it has happened to me.

Do you go to the registrar of your domain, 11re.com, and set your DNS?

It does not come up for me.

Then one problem I had with a reseller, and dropped them quick as they were no help, is that no matter what I did, I had the same problem you are having. Sites just not coming up.

Yup.....domain control panel...change name servers add...ns3.site.com and ns4.site.com for me!

Your domain that will be selling the hosting, did you set the dns to point to the dns the reseller gave you?

DNS Stuff: DNS tools, DNS hosting tests, WHOIS, traceroute, ping, and other network and domain name tools.

You have errors, appears to be with your name servers. Not 100% sure on the exact problem, could always try deleting your account the 100 meg one and recreating it, see if that helps. I have had it happen before where I needed to do just that.

Otherwise it's going to be name server issue, this isn't private name servers is it?

Yup bro....thats why it is working... Indian Fan Club - vIndianz but not the one which i created the hosting account!

Did you try deleting the account and recreating?...

(ignore locally configured ones)

and after it is a check box! and when i click it i see the name servers that i put on the domain control panel...so should i check it or not??

Easiest way to check is to check which dns the domain is pointing to.
If it is set up to point to your reseller dns, all is well there.
It should be your custom servers.

I would lean towards propagation as the possible source of the issue.

A good way to test this is to replace your name servers in your TCP/IP stack on your computer with the name servers/IPs of the name server in use for the domain. This way, you would be querying the DNS server directly that has information for this domain.

An easier way to test this is to do the following from the command line:

nslookup domain.com

If you get no response/time out, or a message that says: ** server can't find domain.com

Then type the following:

nslookup domain.com ns.yournameserver.com

(where "ns.yournameserver.com" is the name server that is authoritative for the domain.com zone.

If you then get an answer, it's probably a propagation issue.

The reason i went with a 'proxy' to check is my old ISP for some reason and way blocked every attempt of me making changes on my end, such as hostfiles etc. I had no choice but to rely on proxies.
Not sure what they did, never had a problem using checks on my end on other isp's.
