    Default help, good hosting service, bandwith> 30 gb/mo ...

    Hi,
my hosting provider, has updated his offer, and like an idiot , I've accepted to switch to the new offer.
I just realized that the new offer have a 10 Gb/Mo bandwith limit,
which is quite insufficient for me (before, this was "unlimited" ).
So now, there's just 2 month before my subscription expire,
and I thought that I'd better look for an other hosting provider since mine become a bit too expensive for me (nexenservices, french) .
This would cost me 15 euros per month (yes EUROS, & TVA not included) to get a solution with a 50gb/mo bandwith, if I stay with the same hosting solution (with ton of useless hard drive space).

So could you advise me , knowing that I'm interested by the following criterias:
+ shared hosting, less than 10$/month (TVA included)
+ 60 gb/month max of bandwith. Actually my website, needs on average 30 gb /month, but I'd better have a margin. Off course,as all webmasters , I wish to increase traffic to my website.(currently around 1000 visitors/days)
+ accept paypal payements (I do not wish to send credit card informations)
+ 100 mb of space (my website use currently less than 50 mb)
+ preferably more than 1 sql database (5 would be nice).
    + php4 support
+ preferrably accept to park more than 1 domain. I currently only use one; but one day , I may wish to have another domain.
+ accept htaccess override (for url rewriting )
    + fair stats
    + fair TOS
+ I'm only interested by mail/chat support (not phone).
From their support, I'll accept to wait up to 4 hours, to get an answer if I have "an urgent problem".
    + fast page loading times
    + fair uptimes

Currently my website almost only use static page. I use a php script to gather some statics (the stats provided by my host provider are crappy), a php contact page ... But I may install one day a Joomla's site, with coppermine/phpbb. Or even drupal.

Let me say, that I've spent a whole day reading reviews about most known webhosting solution, and I'm pretty tired ...
It's seems that with almost every host provider, someone got a bad experience. Help me to avoid that "bad experience".

    thanks

Not breaking rules, the only thing we really frown on 'as far as I know' is those who spam the forums and that's it with their services. Someone who posts, someone asks for something, if you can offer it I see no problem with offering it

    well,
from what I see TrexHost is a relatively recent service ...
I don't know why the billing cycle is only of one month.... ?
That's interesting if you wish to perform a test,
but later that would be bothering if you have to send each month the payement... I like to pay a certain number of months.

WTF is not critical or political.
Well, I'm not sure I understand what you meant by "critical",
but I was a bit tired by the excessive agressivity/lies between competitors I found at WHT.

Typical thread at WHT: The host provider X sucks! And in the signature: I've been hosted 4 years with Y!

I like the fact that trexhost doesn't oversell (or perhaps mildly, despites what it is said). The fact that I can pay month by month is nice for a first try.... I don't know if it is relevant, but I found the "alexa rank" of trexhost a bit weak... In comparison, my website, have a higher rank.

If you have any other suggestions, I'll read them.
    thanks

I wouldn't rely or much less look at 'alexa ranking' for much of anything, especially not when checking out a host myself.

As far as payments go, I like many others prefer to pay month to month. Who knows though, ask and maybe something can be worked out between you 2.

I sell hosting by the month also.
    Majority of people like that.
Some people though like to pay per year, and I can easily set that up.
Most hosts, if you ask, will work with you on payment plans, etc.

    Angry

    hi,
finally I've purshased a standard package a trexhost.
At 5$ the month , I'm not taking too much risks ...
Unfortunately, the link they provide to access my cpanel & ftp, use my domain. This means I won't be able to do any maintenance task (copying files, database) before the DNS propagation is done.
That would also mean potential downtime, during the switch.
Do other web hosting solution have such limitations ?
    That's definitely not convenient...
My current host , offer me an alternate url, so that I can do any maintenance task, and check how the website works, even if don't use my own domain.

If you know the IP the domain is on you should beable to set it up this way.
Did they not include the IP in your welcome message?

looking for shared hosting and things to watch for - most of the time you get what you paid for so be careful

here is a small trick some hosting companies
UNLIMITED Bandwidth -- but the pipe is only 1mb/S
    what does that mean --
you can have all the water you want from my tap
but i only let drops out of it -- LOL
I know my explanation is far fetched but some hosting providers on a reseller account is also capped on a 10Mb / Internet feed instead of 100 Mb/ Second and the server is could filled with thousands of accounts - so performance becomes an issue

Alot of servers are on 10mb, some are on even less!
Only one of my dedicated servers is on 100mb, the others are all 10mb.
For me it's ok, but yeah if the server is overloaded it could be huge problems.
