Hostgator is a great starting place for hosting especially if your new to the business IMHO. They have a cheap hosting plan with excellent customer service for any issues you may have and we have very little to no down time.

In reply to your question, I would like to say the following. When selecting a hosting plan, you will need to take account of current and possible future needs. If you need the flexibility of configuration and complete control over the configuration of services. If you are tired restrictions on the number of sites, databases, boxes, etc. If you want to install software, such as modules for Perl. If you want to run their services, such as IRC server. If you need Servers own names. If you want security, and isolation from other clients. If you want to be sure you always get a guaranteed resources. In this case, you need to take VDS plan. I recommend you cheap VDS-hosting firms developer ISPManager panel. Tariff plans from $ 5 to $ 20 per month for VDS. You can take you a minimum plan, and then when it will need to turn to another. And you can add additional resources-cpu, RAM, disk space, if you will need. I take this service about 6 months and recommend it to you. Link in my sign.

Depending on the size of her site a VDS/VPS might be overkill. Most people starting out probably just want a shared host, then grow as needed.

    Hello sabrina,

Before ordering the package with any host you have to do many research. Firstly try to host your website with a company that is closer from where your visitors are expected, or stick with a hosting provider located in the same country this can improve latency, web site browsing speed, downloading and uploading. Than I prefer quality of host and server configurations on which your website will be hosted. You will need to check there support time, there method of support.
Just try to overlook on the features they are providing to you for free as those will be marketing stunt
Look for such a provider on search engine who had an option of money back guarantee, if you are happy with the services you can continue or can just ask for refund

Please let me know in case you have any question in this regards, I will be glad to assist you

    Thank you.

How so? Do you honestly think that a small host that can only afford to offer basic services and no 24/7 support is better than a large established company that has the means to provide extra features and is staff 24/7?

In all my years in the hosting industry (going back to 1995), I have seen hundred of thousands of hosts that are here today and gone tomorrow.

We've found that by offering service in the middle of the road, not over-priced and not oversold still leaves us room to offer extra features.

Some hosts include a site builder with their plans. IMO, that is the easist way to create a site. IF not, DreamWeaver and or Microsoft Web Expressions is good too
