    Default Motivation

I find motivation is the hardest part of home working when the occasion arises, the computer goes on for 10 or so minutes and I clear my mail, then.......... I find myself drifting a bit of daytime TV, making a snack, bit of surfing and a recheck of mail.... all in all non to productive

You use your home working time well?

what you need are goals and plans. My goal is to buy x. I need to make x per day to get it in a month. then keep a list in site of how you are achieving that goal.

Do you work from home? It's a lot easier to say that when you haven't tried it, it's not as easy as it sounds.

It can get very distracting working from home. But I always stay on task because I think of 9am-5pm as work time so I get all my work done during that time frame

wether you have a vagina or not doesn't effect your motivation for daily work from home at all. Fairly sexist comment there.

Working from home - easy, relaxed and plenty of work to do if you have the right attitude.

I think you misinterpreted WikicyloN's comment, if you read his first post and my replies and his replies leading up to it, you'll see he didn't mean it how you took it.

I find best to set work hours for yourself while working from home, this will keep you on task. Let's say you work online while the kids are at school, from 10-4pm, or whatever, you make the rules, but stick to them. It also helps if you setup a dedicated home office area away from distractions, this is your work area, well lit, no nearby tv's, etc...

I get distracted very easily working from home. The dog wants to play, someone knocks on the door, back to back MASH episodes, reading blogs, thinking about food, checking emails, etc. etc. However, I just go with it, and sometimes I just get inspired to do a lot of work at once within an hour or two and I feel great after I accomplish it. Of course, this is usually in the middle of the night when it's quiet. I've thought it would be better to work all night and sleep all day instead, but unfortunately, clients like to talk to you in the daytime, so that doesn't work.

I do the same thing. I can never stay focused on only one thing at a time. It gets very boring at times, and I know that I have to start working hard if I want to make money online. Nothing comes for free, I just have a hard time accepting that. Haha.

It's hard to keep away from temptations at home.. I mean there is the tv in front of you, the nice soft bed and snacks at the fridge

I can't give much advice since I always fall for these

I have experienced it too. I am hooked up with a tv show myself What I do is, I set my activities for that day depending upon my work load. I always have a goal for myself. I think it will help also to put your schedule activities in front of you so that you can always be reminded of the things you need to do.

If you are having trouble getting motivated to work from home, then you are most likely not doing something that you truly enjoy. (Which you may or may not feel that you are.) I know that I can sit down in my office at home from the time I wake up and then not realize that it's time to go to bed yet because I enjoy what I do so thoroughly. It's often hard to get me distracted from my work, ask my wife

If you are not working from home because you love it but instead because you want/need the money or some other reason then you would most likely have to set goals and have the willpower to stick to it until the goals are accomplished or your "time runs out" for the day. Being able to stay busy when working from home especially when you're not doing something you live requires willpower and self control which are things that a great many people seem to have in short supply.

It all depends on what you do, I work from home and I find it very easy to stay on task and busy.

This is a good way to look at things, you know that between these hours you have to be working and you can look forward to that 5pm time to quit.

So don't put the TV in front of yourself, don't go lay down in bed, and avoid the snacks if they are a problem. Again, self control and willpower.

I do not normally get distracted with stuff like TV but I do find it hard when there is a huge chores list to complete at home. I just got home from vacation yesterday and today I have a huge list of stuff to do including repairing the washer.

Sometimes it is easier just to go to a full time job and come home when your done. Working at home means that you have to be ready when the work is there.
