Default Thinking of going full time for a few months

In October-February, I am going full time with my online work.

I was thinking of doing article writing however because I will refuse to go back to DP I do not know how profitable this will be or how much work I can find in other forums.

If I don't find work in writing articles I will focus on my pet website by adding a considerable amount of content and fixing up design issues.

Any feedback would be appreciated and if anyone could suggest something better than article writing I would greatly appreciate your feedback.

If you feel that you are strong in article writing, then I would stick with it for the moment. However, you must bear in mind that there are lots of writers from the Indian subcontinent who are willing to undercut any price. The problem with article writing is that you are right at the bottom of the food chain, so that you do most of the hard work, whereas others make the big profits. Therefore it is advisable that you learn what people further up the foodchain do. I would suggest that you look at and learn the followng as well.

    1. Article marketing, in particular "bum marketing". There is a free eBook on this at bummarketing.com

    2. Sell PLR products e.g. pack of 100 articles on a given subject and restrict this to 20 to 100 copies. You can easily sell this in various forums. One particular active marketplace would be the warriior special offers in the warrior forum.

    3. eBooks - you can try writing an eBook in an area which you like and try to market it.

    4. Membership sites - instead of selling a one-off PLR product, you can set up a membership where members are given a number of new PLR articles each month. You can expand this to include eBooks and complete websites.

Since October is quite a long way off, it would advisable if you could find some part-time work first to see how profitable it is. At the same time, you should build up relationships in the various forums. You should really have some sort of business plan that includes a fallback position should things not work out.

    Good Luck!

    GameOver,

IMHO, Build sites for somebody else always work for me.. Or simple, quick, cheap logo design work offers.

Or, invest in a money making sites listed in many forums' marketplace? To save you time on building a new one.

    CHeers!

If you can get enough money out of it to sustain an income and can deal with the long hours then I say you give it a shot.

@gameover, pet related sites is a good source of income (limited time though. but if you have lots with good ranking then it's good). i do have a pr3 pet site, for the first week i opened sale for text links on it, i was able to earn $200-$300 for permanent links. i think i was able to sold a total of 600-700usd just by selling advertising text links.

It can be hard to switch to full-time self-employed if you don't have a good idea to execute on. Might be good to do part-time until you have the aha moment for an online venture that will actually earn some money. If you have a decent amount of cash in the bank for padding, then by all means, go for it!

IMHO, I wouldn't worry too much about writers from other countries undercutting your prices. The problem is that the people who hire those writers will never pay you enough to live on. Therefore I say let each group feed off of each other.

Instead go for people who value quality over quantity. Anyone can write but not everyone can write well enough to bring in traffic and advertising dollars. And those that do can command some fairly decent rates.

You can do the freelance writing thing. I'm experimenting with submitting articles for sale to Constant-Content.com. In a couple of weeks I should have some pack of PLR articles ready to sell. In a month I should have an ebook ready to promote and sell.

You can also look into to writing for network blogs.

Look around. There is plenty of work out there for the writer who is motivated. The great thing is that once you have established yourself as a good writer, then people will come looking for you rather than the other way around.

    Good luck

You can sell posts and links to your blogs and/or websites.
You can sell banners on your websites.
Do SEO work on your website to get more traffic and sales.
YOu can got to all the social websites and some have advertising forums or write good articles in forums and people may click on your signature links.

It is best to have your own website offering services and/or products.

I am just offering alternatives in addition to your article writing that I have used and been successful with.

I would advise anyone to go for it and not limit yourself to just one aspect of online activities there is a lot more you can do.

GameOver, if you really have a passion in writing, you can join Helium and Triond. Aside from their revenue sharing plan that they have in their sites, you will also get to earn some money when someone buy your articles in the site. I know someone who have 100 articles in Helium and makes more than $100 a month.
