    Cool Overcoming Procrastination

Being my own boss has so many pros, and the little con of not having to be accountable to someone else... which sometimes leads me to procrastinate things that I would definitely do if someone were to look over my shoulder...

What has worked for you to overcome procrastination?

Sometimes I set up little personal rewards, i.e.- if I finish all this then I can go to the mall!!

I hate procrastination, which is annoying too. I'm the type of person that doesn't sleep if something is left undone during the day. Very annoying especially when your in the middle of big projects like a redesign or new site. I have to set up smaller goals instead of just "Get it done" or else I'll drive myself nuts.
If I were to have a reward though, it would have to contain choclate LOL!

Well the one Gyan that got me through was "Action Cure Fears"

The reason that i was procastinating the most was cause i was not comfortable doing something, juts trained my mind to think differently and once the first step was taken, things just got easier

I'll often reward myself by giving myself the rest of the day off.

even now I should be doing something but I just don't know where to start, perhaps the rest of the day off would clear my cluttered mind!

You know, the biggest hurdle for me was to realize I wasn't procrastinating, I had/have issues with depression which caused me to "procrastinate".. these days, knowing the difference helps as I can modify my behaviors when I need to.

I procrastinate with certain items on certain days.
Other times, I get all caught up as quick as possible.

Now that I am semi-retired, I don't call it procrastination, but call it taking my own sweet time.

For the person procrastinating this may result in stress, a sense of guilt, the loss of productivity, the creation of crisis, and the chagrin of others for not fulfilling one's responsibilities or commitments. While it is normal for individuals to procrastinate to some degree, it becomes a problem when it impedes normal functioning. Chronic procrastination may be a sign of an underlying psychological or physiological disorder.

I have no stress, no guilt, no loss of productivity, crisis, and I doubt others are chagrined that I put things off (not counting wife).

I can barely survive on my own for a few weeks, then I am a nutcase.
When we lived in Texas, and my wife would come up to Iowa for a month, two months, or even 3 months....I went bonkers!

And helped the phone companies out on the long distance bills.

I "could" get one as a companion pet (dog under pounds (?!) or a cat) but you have to put up a deposit and get a doctor's note.. I'd rather wait until and if I decide to move.

Not really, companion animals for help mates or simply companionship .. people suffering from chronic depression, for example, could request a doctor's note to allow them to have a pet for companionship.
