Default What does working at home mean to you?

I have had a pretty successful career. As a software engineer, I have had the opportunity to work on some very rewarding projects. I also make very good money. But, I work under very stressful situations and my time is not my own. I have deadlines, I have bosses that make demands from me, I can't take a month or 3 month vacation, and someone else is determing my pay.

In other words, someone else pretty much controls my lifestyle. I have very little say as to how or where I want to live my life. My life choices are controlled by my job.

Having my own business will allow me the freedom of choice to live where I want to and how I want. Having a work at home business will allow me to spend more time with my family, it will allow me to determine my lifestyle. To simplify, having a work at home business would bring me freedom and lifestyle without the stresses that I currently face everyday at my job.

What does having a work at home business mean to you?

Having my own home business (even though i work between home and a rented office), means more time with my son, which was one of the main reasons why i wanted to work for myself.

Working from home means that I will have the time to spend playing my guitar and getting back into what I really love which is creating artwork, I love to draw and paint. Since working at a job, I have lost my skills. It will take some work to get my those skills back, but I look forward to painting and drawing. I would also like to travel and visit some of the more famous museums. One museum I'd like to start is in New York City. The museum is called the Guggenheim Museum. Next art museum include those in Italy, France, etc

I think working at home was a little bit less stressful
you are the boss of your own business and the idea
of you are more relaxed at home because everything
you need was there and at the same time you have
    more time with your family.:sgrin:

For me, working from home means being able to choose my own hours, choose how I can do things like prices, and being able to travel, pay bills, own a house, eat with any money gained.

I no longer work from home.

I have myself a little office thats only a 15 minute walk from home, or 2 minute drive. I can, and do, still start and end work as I please. I tend to be a night owl, or keep highly irregular hours. I sometimes crash on the couch here if I stayed too late and feel to tired to be walking home at like 4am.

Having the office keeps me away from the distractions of home, namely the TV, and allows me to be more productive.

Working at home means that I become somewhat of a workoholic. That's not even really in my nature, I only get like that with entrepreneurial/design stuff as that's what I love.

Working for myself means freedom of my time; no longer being locked down at the job where I am at the beck and call of a boss.

Working for myself will also allow me to spend my time doing something I enjoy as well as allow me to help others reach their dreams and goals.

Freedom and not being tied to a job much better to be working to live instead of living to work.

I just found out the last 2 weeks that my company is starting to implement the work at home policy. We start the pilot next week. We are starting out one day a week. If it works out, then we will be working from home every day.

I can't do it at this time because one of the rules in the policy is that we have to have a laptop. My laptop was ordered today, so I should get it within the next week or two. Once I have my laptop and it is setup, I will begin to participate in the pilot.

As much as the thought of working from home sounds great, I am still working for someone else. It just is not the same as having my own business and working from home.

I want my own business and I want to run it from my home. I am looking for freedom and lifestyle. I am not going to get this while working at my job.

Well main thing is flexibility and reduction of tension and problems arising from face to face interactions in a company . The no definite timings work could however sometimes backfire giving you no definite free time .
